Forty Pieces, Five Decisions.
An outdoor kitchen is five choices, not forty. Work down the bands in order and each one narrows the next.
What You Cook On
Start here, because everything else on this page is sized to whatever you choose. Gas for control, a griddle for everything that falls through a grate, live fire for the nights that matter.

One Brand Across The Whole Island.
Most outdoor kitchens are assembled from four suppliers and you can see it in the front of them, where nothing quite lines up. Every Videl door, drawer and appliance is cut to the same face height and finished in the same 304 stainless, which is why a finished run reads as one piece of equipment rather than a shelf of parts.
What The Build Actually Involves.
Four things decide whether an outdoor kitchen goes in cleanly. None of them cost much to get right, and all of them cost real money to get wrong.
Cut to the opening, not to the appliance
Every built in piece has a published island opening and it is smaller than the overall size, because the frame overlaps the cut edge on all four sides and covers it. Cut to the opening and the piece drops in.

- 28.5 x 11.5 x 24.75 inGriddle and outdoor oven
Let the island breathe
Propane is heavier than air and settles in an enclosed space, so a gas island has to be vented. This is a code requirement rather than a finishing touch, and the quantity depends on the fuel, the island volume and what is in it.

Size the gas for everything, not just the grill
A line sized for a grill alone leaves the grill and the side burner both running weak the first time they are lit together. Give your installer the full list from your build before the trench is cut.

Refrigeration needs a GFCI outlet it does not share with anything that trips it. Most of the rest of the range needs nothing at all, which is worth knowing before an electrician quotes the whole island.

Which refrigerator, and why it matters
The compact 4.5 cubic foot model is rated by the manufacturer for covered or protected installation. The Outdoor Premium Refrigerator is the one for an island open to the sky. Getting this wrong is the single most common outdoor kitchen regret, and it only shows up in the first hot month.
Why the cover is the best money on this page
Pollen, tree sap, pool splash and rain marks are what age a grill cosmetically, and none of them land on a covered one. Buy the cover cut for your grill rather than a generic one, and let the grill cool before it goes on.
Natural gas or propane is a decision, not a setting
The burner orifices are set at the factory for one fuel and they are not interchangeable without a conversion. Confirm what runs to the spot before you order. If you are not sure, send us a photo of the meter or the tank.
What People Ask Before They Order.
Short answers first. If yours is not here, ask us and we will put it in writing.
Do I have to build an island?
No, and that is the first thing worth knowing. The 36 inch grill and the 30 inch griddle each have a powder coated cart cut for them, in fourteen colors, and each can be ordered with the appliance already fitted or as the cart on its own. The outdoor oven has its own stand. The Anza cooking table and both live fire grills are freestanding by design. If you do want an island, the four Signature Collection packages arrive as a kit with the frame and the appliances matched to each other, so the work is one visit rather than a season of separate deliveries.
Which grill should I take?
The Gran Fuego 36 is the one most islands are built around, at four burners and 860 square inches of total cooking surface, and it is the grill the carts, covers, grates and griddle plate in this range were cut for. The Gran Fuego 42 adds a fifth burner and an infrared burner behind the grate, which is what puts a steakhouse sear on a thick cut. The Commercial Premium Grill 36 trades those for a one hour gas flow timer that shuts the supply off by itself. If the grill is going somewhere you will not be watching it, that timer is the whole decision.
What size opening do I cut?
Every built in piece here has a published opening and every listing states it. The 36 inch grills take 32.5 wide by 10 high by 22 deep. The 42 takes 38.5 by 10 by 22. The griddle and the outdoor oven both take 28.5 by 11.5 by 24.75. Doors and drawers each have their own, and the combination units need real depth behind the face because they carry a drawer box. Cut to the opening rather than to the overall size, because the frame overlaps the cut edge on all four sides and covers it.
Natural gas or propane, and can I change my mind later?
Choose before you order. The burner orifices are set at the factory for one fuel or the other and they are not interchangeable without a conversion. If you are not sure what runs to the spot the grill is going, send us a photo of the meter or the tank and we will tell you which one to take. It is a two minute check that saves an expensive return.
Does a gas island need ventilation?
Yes, and it is a code requirement rather than a finishing touch. Propane is heavier than air and settles in an enclosed space, so the island has to be able to breathe. We carry stainless vents in two sizes, but how many you need and where they go depends on the fuel, the island volume and the appliances in it. Ask whoever is doing the gas work for the number and we will supply exactly that.
Which refrigerator goes in an island that is not under cover?
The Outdoor Premium Refrigerator. The compact 4.5 cubic foot model is rated by the manufacturer for covered or protected installation, which means under a roof, a solid pergola or a shaded run. The premium model is the one for an island open to the sky. Tell us how sheltered the spot is and we will point you at the right one rather than letting you find out in August.
What is the difference between the two carts?
Only what they are cut for. The 36 inch cart takes the 36 inch grill and the 30 inch cart takes the Gran Plancha griddle, and the two are not interchangeable. Both come in the same fourteen powder coat colors and both can be ordered with the appliance already fitted, which is the option most people want, or as the cart alone if you already own the appliance. Read the option you have selected before you check out, because the two look alike in a list and are not the same purchase.
Can I put a Videl grill into masonry I already have?
Often yes. Compare what you have against the published opening for the grill you want, leave the clearance the manual calls for to anything combustible, and make sure the burner compartment can breathe. If the numbers are close but not exact, send us the measurements before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it drops in. That conversation is free and it is a great deal cheaper than cutting twice.
What is included with the griddle and what is not?
The Gran Plancha 30 comes with a stainless cover, which is unusual and worth knowing, because most built in appliances do not. The grills do not include a cover and we carry the one cut for each size. The power burner also includes its cover. Everything else in the range is sold as listed, and every product page has a line that says exactly what is in the box.
Who should connect the gas?
A licensed professional, every time. Have the line sized for every appliance going into the island rather than for the grill alone, because a line sized for one appliance leaves two of them running weak when they are lit together. That sizing is much easier to get right before the trench is cut than after. Tell your installer the full list from your build and the job is straightforward.
About Videl Grills
Videl is the grill division of The Outdoor Plus, built in Ontario, California. The range is 304 stainless throughout and it is designed as one system rather than a shelf of unrelated parts, which is why a Videl grill, a Videl door and a Videl drawer all line up across the front of a finished island. The Gran Fuego grills are the heart of it, at 36 and 42 inches. Around them sit a 30 inch griddle, side and power burners, a gas fired outdoor oven, refrigeration, doors and drawers in seven widths, and two live fire grills for people who would rather cook over wood.
Can I buy the whole outdoor kitchen at once?
Yes, and for most people that is the easier route. The four Signature Collection packages run from a six foot island with a grill and doors up to an eleven foot island with a grill, a griddle, side burners and the full set of storage. The frame and the appliances arrive together and go in as one job, so the patio is a work site once rather than for a season. Build yours with the outdoor kitchen builder at the top of this page and you can see what a configuration costs before you commit to anything.
What if I do not want to build an island?
Then take a cart. The 36 inch grill and the 30 inch griddle each have a powder coated cart cut for them, in fourteen colors, and each can be ordered with the appliance already fitted or on its own. The Anza cooking table and the two live fire grills are freestanding by design, and the outdoor oven has its own stand. Nothing on this page forces you into masonry.
Which grill should I take?
The Gran Fuego 36 is the one most islands are built around and the one the carts, covers and grates in this range were cut for. The Gran Fuego 42 adds a fifth burner and an infrared burner behind the grate for searing. The Commercial Premium Grill 36 trades those for a one hour gas flow timer that shuts the supply off by itself, which is what gets a grill approved for a clubhouse, a pool deck or a rental property. If you are not sure which side of that line your project sits on, ask us and we will put the position in writing before you order.
What do I need to know before anything is cut?
Every built in piece here has a published island opening, and every listing states it. Cut to the opening rather than to the overall size, because the frame overlaps the cut edge on all four sides. Gas islands also need ventilation and that is a code requirement rather than a finishing touch, so size it with whoever is doing the gas work. The gas itself belongs to a licensed professional, and the burner orifices are set at the factory for either natural gas or propane, so confirm the fuel before you order. Send us your measurements and we will check the fit with you first.
