Now building our 2027 team

  • What this isAn open invitation to experienced candidates while we plan for the 2027 season.
  • What this is notA list of confirmed vacancies. One role is open today and it's the one above. The areas below are not.
  • How it worksSend your résumé and tell us where you fit. If your experience matches a current or upcoming need, our team can review it.
Who we're looking for

Experience matters here.

Aqua Terra Backyard sells in categories where knowing the product changes the outcome. A heater that doesn't match the gas supply, a filter cartridge one generation off, a pump that will not fit the existing plumbing: these are the questions that arrive every day, and answering them well takes people who understand the equipment.

That's the kind of knowledge we're looking for. It can come from the service side, the distribution side, the retail counter, or the warehouse floor.

  • You've worked around this equipment and you know how it behaves
  • You can read a model number and work out what someone actually needs
  • You explain technical things in plain language
  • You follow through until something is genuinely resolved

Backgrounds we're especially interested in

You do not need all of these. One or two done well is more useful than a long list.

Industry knowledge

Certifications and training are a plus.

If you've worked in the pool, spa, hearth, grill, outdoor living or equipment distribution industries, we'd like to hear from you. Credentials and manufacturer training can be valuable depending on the role.

None of this is required. We list these because they're genuinely useful, not as a filter. Plenty of strong people in this trade learned it on the job without a certificate, and we'd rather see what you actually know.

Certified Pool & Spa Operator

The CPO credential is well recognized across the pool and spa trade.

Manufacturer product training

Pentair, Hayward, Jandy, Raypak and other brand programs.

Equipment and technical training

Hands-on service, repair or installation experience with this equipment.

Hearth and gas appliance knowledge

Relevant where fireplaces, inserts, venting and outdoor heating are involved.

Ecommerce platform experience

Shopify or comparable systems, product data, catalog and order workflows.

Distribution and logistics

Receiving, inventory, freight coordination and vendor operations.

Areas we're growing

Where you might fit in 2027

These are the parts of the business we expect to grow into. They are areas of interest rather than confirmed openings, and we'll say so plainly rather than dress it up.

Customer experience & product support

Helping customers work out what they need, what fits, where their order is and what happens next. A lot of this is equipment knowledge applied to a real person's problem.

  • Relevant experience
  • Pool and spa product knowledge
  • Parts identification and cross-referencing
  • Ecommerce customer service
  • Order troubleshooting
  • Clear written and phone communication

Product & technical specialists

Deeper knowledge of the equipment and the brands. Specifications, compatibility, supersessions, and the judgment to know when a repair no longer makes sense.

  • Relevant experience
  • Manufacturer training
  • Parts diagrams and schematics
  • Technical troubleshooting
  • Equipment sizing and compatibility
  • Industry certifications

Purchasing & operations

Keeping orders moving through a network of manufacturers, distributors and carriers. This is the work that decides whether a lead time is real.

  • Relevant experience
  • Purchasing and procurement
  • Vendor and distributor relations
  • Order and backorder management
  • Inventory coordination
  • Freight and logistics

Ecommerce & marketplace operations

We run our own store alongside Amazon and Walmart, with a catalog of more than ten thousand products and plenty still to load. Product data, listings, pricing accuracy and the systems behind them.

  • Relevant experience
  • Amazon and Walmart seller operations
  • Shopify or comparable platforms
  • Product catalog and data management
  • Listing quality and accuracy
  • Order workflows and reporting

Other experienced industry talent

Don't see your background here? If you have real experience in the industries we serve and think you can contribute, we'd still like to hear from you. Our 2027 plan will keep developing, and the best hires rarely arrive in the order you planned for.

What we value

The same standard we already publish

We're not writing a separate set of employee values. OASIS is the standard on our Mission & Core Values page, and this is what it looks like from the inside.

O

Ownership

Carry the detail rather than pass it along. If an order, a question or a claim is yours, it stays yours until it's actually resolved.

In practiceFollowing an order through a manufacturer delay instead of waiting for the customer to chase it.
A

Accuracy

Voltage, fuel type, plumbing size, model generation, part supersessions. One detail missed turns into an expensive afternoon at someone's equipment pad.

In practiceChecking a part against the model and serial before the order goes through.
S

Selection

The catalog runs from a single gasket to a full equipment package. Knowing what's in it, and what it's for, makes you better at every other part of the job.

In practiceCuriosity about the products, not just the process for selling them.
I

Integrity

Give the answer that's right for the application rather than the one that's easiest to sell. That includes saying when something is not the right fit.

In practiceTelling someone a repair still makes sense when a replacement would be the bigger sale.
S

Support

Real people who understand the equipment, explaining it in language the customer can use. Judgment about when you know enough to answer and when to go check.

In practicePlain language on the phone, and a straight answer about what you're not sure of.
Why Aqua Terra Backyard

What the work is actually like

A company still being built

Aqua Terra Backyard started in 2023 and has grown every season since. The catalog, the supplier network and the customer base are all still expanding, and the way we work is still being shaped.

Product knowledge is the job

We sell specialized equipment. Understanding what something does, where it fits and when a different answer is better is not a nice-to-have here, it's the work.

Unusually broad exposure

In one week you might touch a spa jet, a heat pump, a fireplace insert, a built-in grill and a shade structure. Over 200 brands across six related industries.

More than one storefront

We sell through our own site and through Amazon and Walmart. Marketplace experience carries real weight here, and that side of the business has room to grow.

Room to contribute

A team this size means your work is visible and the way things get done is still open to improvement. We're not promising a title or a track, just that good ideas are not stuck behind six layers.

What you'd work with

Specialized equipment, not general merchandise

This is the range a team member can expect to encounter. It's why product knowledge is worth so much here.
