Privacy Policy
Aqua Terra Backyard Corp. operates aquaterrabackyard.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit or buy from our website, what we do with it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect what we need to take your order, deliver it, and help you afterwards.
- We use Shopify and a small number of service providers to run the store.
- Our site uses cookies, website analytics and a Google advertising tag.
- You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time, and you can ask us what we hold about you.
Our online store runs on Shopify. Shopify hosts the site, runs the checkout and processes payments on our behalf.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and delivery details. Your name, email address, phone number, billing address and shipping address.
- Order information. What you ordered, the order total, and delivery details.
- Account information. If you create an account, your login details and any saved addresses. An account is optional and you can check out as a guest.
- Messages you send us. What you write to us by email, through our contact form, or in the chat window on our site, including anything you choose to include such as an order number or a model and serial number.
- Product reviews. If you leave a review, the name and email address you submit with it.
- Marketing sign-ups. Your email address, if you sign up for our emails.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information. Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site you arrived from, and how you move around our site. This is collected using cookies and similar technologies.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Shopify Payments. Your card details are submitted to the payment provider rather than to us. What we receive is confirmation that payment succeeded, along with limited details such as the card brand and whether a digital wallet was used. We do not receive or store your full card number.
How we use information
- To take, process and deliver your order, and to keep you updated on it
- To answer your questions and provide customer service, including returns and warranty claims
- To take payment, and to detect and prevent fraud
- To operate, maintain and improve our website
- To send marketing emails, if you have signed up for them
- To keep business records and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations
Shopify and our service providers
We use Shopify to power our online store, and a small number of other providers to run parts of the site and the business. The ones that handle personal information are:
- Shopify. Ecommerce platform, website hosting, checkout, payment processing, our email sign-up forms and our marketing emails. Shopify's own privacy policy is at shopify.com/legal/privacy.
- Shipping carriers and freight companies. So that your order can be delivered to you.
- Shopify Inbox and Willdesk. The chat and help desk tools we use to answer questions.
- Judge.me. Product reviews.
- Swym. Wishlist and back-in-stock features.
- Google and Metricool. Website analytics and advertising measurement, described in the next section.
These providers may use your information only to provide their service to us.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use them to keep your cart and session working, to remember your preferences, to understand how the site is used, and to measure our advertising.
Shopify publishes and maintains a current list of the cookies used on Shopify storefronts at shopify.com/legal/cookies. That list changes as Shopify updates its platform, so we link to it rather than reproduce a copy here that would go out of date.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
Analytics and advertising
Our website includes a Google advertising tag. It lets us measure how our advertising performs, and it may allow Google to show our ads to you on other websites you visit. You can review Google's privacy information at policies.google.com/privacy and manage what ads you are shown at myadcenter.google.com.
We also use Metricool, a website analytics service, to understand overall traffic to our site.
We do not use your personal information to make automated decisions about you.
Marketing emails
If you sign up, we send emails about products, offers and news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email, or by contacting us.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop messages about an order you have already placed, such as order confirmations, shipping notices and replies from our customer service team.
When we share information
We share personal information in these situations:
- With the service providers listed above, so that they can perform their service for us
- With shipping carriers, so that your order can be delivered
- Where the law requires it, or in response to a lawful request from a public authority
- To establish, exercise or defend legal claims, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, our business or others
- With a buyer or successor, if our business or its assets are sold or transferred
How long we keep information
We keep order records for as long as we need them to run the business and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations. We keep other information, such as marketing sign-ups and customer service messages, for as long as it is useful for the purpose it was collected for.
You can ask us to delete information we hold about you. We will do so unless we are required to keep it.
Your choices
- Marketing emails. Unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email, or contact us and we will remove you.
- Your information. Ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it.
- Your account. Ask us to close and delete your account.
- Cookies. Block or delete them through your browser settings.
To make a request, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on a request, usually by asking you to write from the email address on the account or the order.
Depending on where you live, your state may give you additional privacy rights. If you believe you have a right we have not described here, contact us and we will tell you what we can do.
Browser privacy signals
Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common industry standard for how a website should respond to it, and our website does not respond to it.
Children
Our website is a general audience store and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Our store runs on Shopify's hosted platform, and we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No website, and no method of sending information over the internet, is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices change, or for legal or operational reasons. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
