FPL · On Call- How it works
- FPL installs a load-control device at no cost and cycles the enrolled equipment off during peak demand events.
- Who is eligible
- You must have a qualifying central electric air conditioner to enrol in On Call at all. The pool pump is an optional add-on, and it must be a single-speed pump. Other enrollable loads pay separately: air conditioning $6 a month from April to October, water heating $1.50 a month, heating $2.75 a month from November to March.
- Annual value
- FPL advertises savings of over $90 a year, with a stated maximum of $91.75 a year across all enrolled equipment.
- How to enrol
- Enrol online. An FPL-approved and licensed electrical contractor installs the On Call device free of charge. This is not a purchase requirement.
This one conflicts with a variable speed pump purchase. On Call enrols single-speed pool pumps. If you replace a single-speed pump with a variable speed model, you may lose the pool pump portion of this credit. Weigh the $18 a year against the electricity a variable speed pump saves and the one-time rebates it may earn.

Pool covers
Pool cover for a gas-heated pool
Nicor Gas · Home Energy Efficiency Rebate- Who is eligible
- Nicor Gas residential natural gas customers in northern Illinois. Nicor requires that the cover is installed on a residential-use pool heated with gas-fired equipment, and that the pool either has no cover or needs its cover replaced. The invoice must show the square footage.
- Requirement
- Minimum 5 year warranty. Payment is per square foot and may not exceed the cost of the cover.
- Deadline
- Within 90 days after installation, or 31 January 2027, whichever comes first
- Funding
- Not specified
The only pool cover rebate we found that pays by area rather than a flat cap, which makes it the largest of the group on a big pool. Nicor is a gas utility, so the rationale here is heat loss rather than evaporation.

- NW Natural natural gas customers in Oregon and Washington. NW Natural requires that the unit is installed by an NW Natural Fireplace Retailer. That is a participating retailer requirement, so a unit bought from us cannot be claimed. Existing homes only.
- Requirement
- Tier 1, 70.0 to 74.9 fireplace efficiency. Tier 2, 75.0 and above.
- Deadline
- Extended through 31 May 2026
- Funding
- Not specified
Listed so you know it exists. This is the one hearth program in the country that locks you to a participating retailer, so buying the unit from us would forfeit it.

Researched, no current program · 6 states
Arizona AZ None found
No current program. SRP states plainly that its pool pump rebate is no longer available, and neither APS nor Tucson Electric Power lists pool equipment in its current programs.
Maryland MD None found
No current program. BGE, Pepco, Delmarva, SMECO and Potomac Edison all have none. BGE's $400 pool pump brochure is still online but its window closed on 31 December 2023.
Missouri MO None found
No current rebate. St. Louis PACE is sometimes described as one, but PACE is a financing mechanism rather than a rebate.
Nevada NV None found
No current program you can claim on an online purchase. NV Energy's surviving pool measure is pump calibration by an approved calibrator, and its retail discount runs through a specific chain of stores. Southern Nevada Water Authority pays customers to remove a pool, not to upgrade one.
New York NY None found
We are a Long Island business, so this is the state we check hardest. There is no current pool, spa or hearth rebate anywhere in New York that we could verify. PSEG Long Island's pool pump rebate ended years ago and its heat pump pool heater rebate ended on 31 October 2025. South Fork Peak Savers is closed to new customers. NYSERDA and NYS Clean Heat cover space and domestic water heating, not pool heating. National Grid and Con Edison have no pool equipment rebate.
Rhode Island RI None found
No current program. National Grid sold its Rhode Island business to PPL in 2022. The utility is now Rhode Island Energy and it has no pool equipment rebate.
Three things to know
We do not process rebates
Aqua Terra Backyard does not administer these programs, does not submit applications on your behalf, and cannot guarantee that you or any product will qualify. Every application goes directly to the utility or program administrator, and the decision is theirs.
Proof of purchase is often required
Most programs want an itemised invoice showing the manufacturer, model number and price, and many also ask for the serial number from the unit, the installation date, and a photo of the installed equipment and its data plate. Keep all of it.
Lost your receipt? Contact us
If you bought from us and cannot find your receipt, get in touch and we will send you a copy of your invoice. We can also make sure it shows the model, serial and itemised price that rebate programs ask for.
Rebate questions we get
Do all variable-speed pool pumps qualify for rebates?
No. Every program sets its own test. Some require ENERGY STAR certification, some require a minimum Energy Factor, some publish a list of specific approved models, and some simply require variable speed. Check the exact model against the program's own requirement before you buy.
Can I get a rebate if I buy the equipment online?
Often yes. Most of the programs listed above are claimed by the customer with a receipt, a model number and a photo, and they do not care where you bought the equipment. A few are different: Duke Energy and Austin Energy require a participating contractor to install the pump and file the rebate, so an online purchase cannot be claimed. Santee Cooper and Focus on Energy let you buy anywhere but require a licensed installer.
Is a rebate guaranteed?
No. The utility or program administrator decides. Several of these programs state in their own terms that funding is limited and first come, first served, and that rebates are not guaranteed. Do not treat a rebate as part of the purchase price until it is approved.
Should I check my gas utility as well as my electric utility?
Yes, and it is the single most commonly missed step. Electric utilities rebate pumps. Gas utilities rebate pool heaters, fireplace inserts and patio heaters, and in one case pool covers. Water utilities rebate covers and filter conversions. Three different administrators, three different sets of equipment, and they do not talk to each other. If you have all three, check all three.
Do I need a professional installer?
It depends on the program, and it is one of the first things to check. Most of the programs above have no installer requirement at all. Focus on Energy and Santee Cooper require a licensed contractor to do the installation. Duke Energy and Austin Energy go further and require a contractor from their own approved list.
Is there a federal tax credit for pool equipment?
No. Pool pumps and pool heaters have never appeared on the qualifying lists for the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit or the Residential Clean Energy Credit, and the IRS instructions for Form 5695 exclude costs allocable to a swimming pool even for solar water heating. Separately, both of those credits ended for property placed in service or expenditures made after 31 December 2025.
About the information on this page
Rebate programs, amounts, eligibility requirements, deadlines and availability are set by the individual utility or program administrator and can change without notice. Eligible customers may qualify for the amounts shown; eligibility varies by utility territory and program requirements. Aqua Terra Backyard does not administer these programs, does not submit applications, and cannot guarantee that any customer or any product will qualify. Every program on this page was checked against the administrator's own published information on 24 August 2026, and that date is shown beside each one. Confirm current requirements directly with the program administrator before buying equipment for the purpose of receiving a rebate.
