When is a ballast base the right pick for my patio?
Three situations come up again and again. You have a finished patio you do not want to core. You rent, so permanent holes are off the table. Or you expect to move the shade once the yard takes its final shape.
In all three, ballast gives you the same hold-down with nothing drilled into the surface. The pavers carry the load and your slab stays exactly as it is.
What size pavers do I need, and where do I buy them?
Four per base adding up to 200 lb, and we will confirm the exact paver size Tara specifies for your install. Any paver or stone yard near you stocks them, and they cost far less locally than they would to ship.
Size matters as much as weight, because the pavers have to fit the tray. Message us before you go and we will get the exact dimension Tara specifies, so you come home with pavers that are right on the scale and right in the frame.
Can I move the shade after it is set up?
Yes. That is the whole point of ballast. Unload the eight pavers, reposition both bases, load them back on.
Nothing is fastened to the ground, so there are no anchor holes left behind and no patching to do.
Do I need more than two bases for a longer run?
Most likely. Two bases cover a single 8′ × 10′ unit. A 20′ or 30′ run adds posts, and the footing count follows the posts.
