BTU output decides how fast the water warms and how well it holds on a cool night. Gallons, wind and whether you run a cover all move the number, and AquaCal rates every model at 50 degree air as well as 80.

Each heat pump needs its own circuit, sized from the ampacity on its spec sheet, and a licensed electrician should make the connection. Water flow matters too: 20 to 60 GPM for the T70, 30 to 70 for the rest, with a bypass above the maximum.

Which heat pump do I need?
Start with the pool. The TropiCal runs from 63,000 to 123,000 BTU and adjusts its output to demand, with an Eco mode built for the lowest running cost. The HeatWave models run from 114,000 to 138,000 BTU. Send us the gallons and your zip code and we will size it with you.
Will it heat when the air is cool?
Yes, with less output as the air cools. AquaCal rates every model at 50 degree air as well as 80, and the SQ200R still makes 88,000 BTU there.
Can it cool the pool too?
Every AquaCal heat pump here heats and cools, so the same unit takes the chill off in spring and the edge off the water in August, all from the PoolSync app.
