AquaCal TropiCal Inverter Pool Heat Pump | T130
AquaCal TropiCal T130 Inverter Pool Heat Pump — 123,000 BTU
The T130 is the largest model in AquaCal's full inverter TropiCal line — built for larger pools and faster heat recovery while keeping the same variable-speed compressor efficiency as the T70 and T100. It reaches a 10.8 Eco Mode COP at roughly 33dB, matching the T70's efficiency despite the much higher output.
Quick Stats
- 123,000 BTU heating capacity
- Rated for pools up to 30,000 gallons
- Full inverter — heats and cools, unlike fixed-speed models
- Eco Mode COP: 10.8 — matches the T70 despite nearly double the output
- ~33dB operation, built-in PoolSync WiFi
- Water flow requirement: 30–70 GPM
Why the T130 Over the T70 or T100?
The T130 is the right call for larger pools, higher thermal demand, or homeowners who want faster heat recovery after cool nights without sacrificing efficiency or noise control. If your pool is under 25,000 gallons, the T100 is likely enough and costs less. If you specifically need heat-only (no cooling) at a similar or higher BTU and a lower price, compare the SQ160R below.
AquaCal Heat Pump Comparison
| Model | Type | BTU | Pool Size | Noise | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| T70 | Inverter, heat+cool | 68,000 | Up to 15,000 gal | ~33dB | Smaller pools, covered pools, budget entry to inverter |
| T100 | Inverter, heat+cool | 101,000 | Up to 25,000 gal | ~33dB | Balanced pick for most residential pools |
| T130 (this model) | Inverter, heat+cool | 123,000 | Up to 30,000 gal | ~33dB | Larger pools, faster recovery, cooler climates |
| SQ140R | Fixed-speed, heat only | 114,000 | Up to 25,000 gal | SuperQuiet design | Heat-only budget alternative to T100 |
| SQ160R | Fixed-speed, heat only | 128,000 | ~25,000–35,000 gal | SuperQuiet design | Heat-only alternative to T130 |
| SQ200R | Fixed-speed, heat only | 138,000 | 35,000+ gal | SuperQuiet design | Very large pools, cold climates |
Note: fixed-speed HeatWave SuperQuiet models heat only, while the full-inverter TropiCal series (T70/T100/T130) heats and cools — worth factoring in if you're in a hot climate where pool cooling matters.
Install Note
Requires 30–70 GPM water flow through the unit. AquaCal specifies outdoor installation only. Installation should be performed by a qualified professional per AquaCal's manual and local electrical code.
