Questions people ask us

Do I need a new canopy or a new shade?

If the frame is straight and the footings have not moved, the fabric is the only part you need. Canopies wear from sun, wind and water on a much shorter clock than the frame does. That is normal, not a fault.

What to look at before you order: sight along the arms and the mast for a bend, check the joints for corrosion, and make sure the base has not shifted. New fabric on a frame that fails any of those is a wind risk rather than a repair, so put the frame right first. The full shade and ballast bases are both here if that is what you need.

Can I change the color of the shade I already have?

Yes, and this is how you do it. A replacement canopy recolors a shade without replacing the frame, the base or anything else in the yard. All 17 colors are the same price, so choose on looks alone.

The canopy unclips, so the whole change is fabric off, fabric on. People order one because the old canopy is finished. People also order one because the house got painted and the shade no longer goes with it. Same product either way.

How do I swap the canopy over?

The bungees release without tools. The frame stays standing and only the fabric comes off, so it is a swap, not a rebuild.

Bring a second pair of hands and pick a still morning. An 8′ × 10′ panel catches wind like a sail, and that is the part people underestimate.

How much sun does the fabric block?

Up to 98% of UV rays. The weave still lets air through, so heat moves rather than sitting under the canopy.
