SwamCam Door and Window Sensor Hub Kit

The SwamCam sensor and hub kit is the standalone entry alarm for a home with no SwamCam camera. The sensor detects a monitored door or window opening, and the hub sounds an alarm indoors and sends an alert to your phone.

Who is this kit for?

Anyone who wants an entry alarm on the doors to the pool without buying a camera system. The kit pairs a door and window sensor with the hub it needs to work, so it runs on its own.

If you already own a SwamCam camera system, you do not need this kit. Your system already has a hub, so buy bare sensors instead and pair them to it.

What does UL 2017 certification mean for pool safety?

UL 2017 is the safety standard covering entry alarms. The International Swimming Pool and Spa Code requires UL 2017 entry alarms on doors that give access to a pool, and these sensors are ETL listed to that standard.

Confirm what applies at your address. Codes vary by state, county and municipality and we have not checked yours. Contact your local building department before relying on any product to satisfy a code requirement.

Can you add a camera to this later?

Yes. The sensors and the hub carry over. Adding a SwamCam camera system later gives you detection at the pool itself as well as at the doors, and one system takes any combination of up to eighteen accessories.

  • Add up to eighteen accessories to one system, in any combination
  • Sensors pair in the app rather than needing reinstallation
  • The camera covers the ground around the pool; the sensors cover the way in
  • SwamCam is an additional layer of protection. It is not a substitute for a barrier or for supervision, and constant adult supervision is still required.

What else do buyers ask about the Door and Window Sensor Hub Kit?

Do I need a camera system to use this kit?

No, and that is the point of this kit. It contains the hub the sensor needs, so it works on its own. A bare SCDS1 sensor does need a hub or a camera system, which is why we list the two separately.

How many sensors can the hub handle?

One SwamCam system takes any combination of up to eighteen accessories, so you can add sensors to this hub as you cover more doors and windows. Each additional sensor is bought separately and paired in the app.

What does UL 2017 certification actually mean?

UL 2017 is the safety standard covering entry alarms. The International Swimming Pool and Spa Code requires UL 2017 entry alarms on doors giving access to a pool. Confirm your own local requirements with your building department.

Will this satisfy my local pool code?

We cannot answer that for your address and we have not checked it. The sensor is ETL listed to UL 2017, but requirements vary by jurisdiction. Contact your local building department before relying on it.

How long does the battery last?

The sensor takes a single CR2 3 volt battery, which the manufacturer rates at approximately six to twelve months of standard use. The app reports when a sensor is running low so you know which one to change.

Does this detect someone entering the water?

No. It reports that a monitored door or window has opened. It does not watch the pool, does not monitor swimming, and will not detect a drowning. It is one layer among several and adult supervision is still required.

Can the hub be plugged in anywhere?

It needs a mains outlet and it needs to be within about 100 feet of the sensors with clear line of sight. Walls, appliances and metal all cut that range down, so a central position usually beats a far corner.

Can I use these sensors outdoors?

The manufacturer lists the sensor as water resistant and rates it from -4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, but publishes no IP rating for it. Mount it where it is shielded from direct spray and standing water.

Not sure whether you need the hub kit or a bare sensor?

Tell us whether you already own a SwamCam camera system and how many doors and windows open onto the pool area, and we will tell you exactly what to order. Manuals, warranties and certificates are on our manuals and guides page. Aqua Terra Backyard is a retailer, not an installer.
