View full details

The Enervex RS is a chimney top exhaust fan for gas and oil appliances, offered here in two sizes: RS014 and RS016. It sits on top of the chimney and pulls flue gases up and out, then discharges them sideways like a standard chimney cap. Enervex builds it for gas fireplaces, stoves, BBQs and pizza ovens with draft problems, and it runs on 120 volts with a variable speed motor.

A safety interlock with the appliance is required.Enervex's manual calls for a safety system, such as a proven draft switch, that shuts the appliance down on low draft, fan failure or power failure. Installation and wiring must be done by a qualified person to local codes or the National Electrical Code, and we recommend a licensed electrician for the wiring.

Questions people ask us

Which size do I need, RS014 or RS016?

The RS014 moves up to 1,400 CFM and the RS016 up to 1,800 CFM. The right size depends on the appliance, the flue size and the chimney height. Send us those details and we will help size it with Enervex before you order.

Can I use the RS on a wood burning fireplace?

No. The RS is listed for non-solid fuel installations, meaning gas and oil. For wood, pellet or other solid fuel, Enervex makes the RSHT high temperature chimney fan.

Does it come with a speed control?

Yes. Enervex lists a 5 amp fan speed control as standard equipment, along with the junction box, fiber mat, mounting brackets and bird screen. For automatic control with a damper and gas valve interlock, look at the ADC100 fan and damper control.

Will it fit a metal chimney?

Yes. On a brick chimney the fan sits on the fiber mat. On a round steel chimney it mounts on a SCA steel chimney adapter, and an air cooled steel chimney needs the ASCA adapter.

How often does it need cleaning?

Enervex says to inspect the fan at least once a year along with the chimney and remove any residue from the blades and the base of the motor housing. Turn the power off before opening the hinged top.
