Outdoor landscape speakers, rock speakers and patio audio
Proficient builds the satellites, buried subwoofers and patio pairs that make a backyard sound like one room rather than four speakers shouting at each other.
Pick the kind of speaker your yard needs
Three different jobs. Most finished gardens use two of them together.

How many speakers does your yard actually need?
Most people buy two big speakers and wonder why the far end of the garden is silent. Answer two questions and we will give you the count, the subwoofer call and a cart you can check out.
1 How much ground do you want covered?
2 Do you want bass you can feel, or background music?
Satellites go 6 to 10 feet apart, four of them cover roughly 1,500 square feet, and one buried subwoofer covers a 25 foot radius spaced about every 50 feet.
Not sure, or an awkward shape? Send a photo or a sketch to eric@aquaterrabackyard.com and we will mark up the speaker positions for you.

Even sound across a whole yard, not one loud corner
Two big speakers on the house blast the patio and leave the far end of the garden silent. Proficient places small satellites 6 to 10 feet apart so the level stays low and the coverage stays even. A four satellite system is rated for roughly 1,500 square feet, which is most back gardens.
Landscape audio
Landscape speaker systems for yards and gardens
Small satellites placed 6 to 10 feet apart, with a buried subwoofer doing the low end.

Grille cloth and housings that survive a real winter
The rock speakers are rated from -50 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit and the landscape satellites sit in sealed housings with silicone filled wire connectors in the box. Nothing here is a patio speaker that has been moved outdoors and hoped for the best.
Rock speakers
Outdoor rock speakers that disappear into the planting
Fiberglass shells that hold their color, with the tweeter angled up so it still sounds right from a chair.
Patio and deck
Patio speakers for decks, eaves and pergolas
Sold as stereo pairs with the swivel brackets in the box.

Leave them out through snow, blossom, leaf fall and heat
Proficient photographs the same speaker through all four seasons for a reason. These are installed once and left, not brought in every October, which is the whole point of buying an outdoor rated speaker rather than moving an indoor one outside.
Before you order
Getting the layout right before you dig
How many speakers does a yard actually need?
More small speakers beats two loud ones every time. Proficient places satellites 6 to 10 feet apart and rates a four satellite system at roughly 1,500 square feet. One buried subwoofer covers a 25 foot radius and gets spaced about every 50 feet. Send us a sketch and we will do the count for you.
70V or 8 ohm, and when it matters
The Signature satellites do both. Set the dial to bypass and they run on any receiver, or pick a tap and they drop into a 70V line. Two exceptions worth knowing: the buried subwoofer is low impedance only and needs its own amplified channel with a low pass filter, and the AW830 patio pair is a 4 ohm load rather than 8.
What is not in the box
Signature landscape satellites ship with the speaker and its wire connectors. The ground stake, the surface mount and the conduit box are separate parts, so order the mount with the speaker. Burial rated cable is never included. Proficient publishes run limits by gauge: 18 AWG to 100 ft, 16 AWG to 150 ft, 14 AWG to 200 ft and 12 AWG to 400 ft.

Every manual and spec sheet in one place
Wiring diagrams, cutout dimensions, impedance tap tables and the burial cable run limits by gauge are all on our Proficient documents page, so you can plan the runs and the amplifier before anything lands on site.
