The Tara Mod Shade pole, Standard is a fixed-height steel support pole for Tara shade sails, rated to carry shades up to 282 square feet. It has six fixing points and sets the anchor height for one corner of a sail. Standard is the steel, fixed-height option in Tara's two-pole range; the Pro pole is aluminum and adds full slider height adjustment.

Compatibility notice. The Tara Mod Shade pole is an optional support for Tara's shade sail lines. It is not a component of the Shade DeLux cantilever shade and does not attach to one. Aqua Terra Backyard does not currently carry the Tara shade sail products this pole is designed to support, so a shade sail is not included and must be sourced separately.

Standard vs. Pro Mod Shade pole

The Tara Mod Shade pole, Standard is steel with a fixed height and carries shades to 282 square feet; the Pro is aluminum with full slider adjustment and carries shades to 360 square feet. The practical difference is whether you can change the anchor height after installation. Standard sets one height and holds it, which is fine when the sail geometry is settled and the sail is within its area rating. Pro is the one to specify when the sail is larger, when the corner heights need tuning to get the right tension and water run-off, or when the layout may change. Steel is also heavier than aluminum, which matters for handling but not for the finished install.

What does 75° and 90° mean on a Mod Shade pole?

75° and 90° describe the pole's angle from the ground: a 90° pole stands vertical, and a 75° pole leans by 15°. The lean is used to pull a sail's corner outward and put tension into the fabric. Tara ships kits at 75° as standard and offers 90° in select applications only, so check your layout before specifying 90°.

Fair Trade-Off to Know Before Buying

Two things to know. First, this pole supports Tara shade sails, and Aqua Terra Backyard does not currently stock that line, so there is nothing on this site for it to attach to and ordering one means sourcing the sail elsewhere. Second, the height is fixed: if the corner height is wrong after installation, the fix is a different pole, not an adjustment. If you want adjustability, specify the Pro. Common Questions

Does this pole work with the Shade DeLux cantilever?
No. The Tara Mod Shade pole supports Tara's shade sail lines and is not a Shade DeLux component. The Shade DeLux mounts on its own footers, either direct to concrete or on ballast bases.

Is a shade sail included?
No. This is the support pole only. The sail is a separate Tara product that Aqua Terra Backyard does not currently carry.
