Tara Mod Shade Pole, Pro

The Tara Mod Shade pole, Pro is an aluminum support pole for Tara shade sails with full slider height adjustment, rated to carry shades up to 360 square feet. The slider is the reason to choose it: corner height can be tuned after installation to set sail tension and water run-off, rather than being fixed at the moment the pole goes in. It is the larger-capacity and more adjustable of Tara's two pole options.

Compatibility notice. The Tara Mod Shade pole is an optional support for Tara's shade sail lines. It is not a component of the Shade DeLux cantilever shade and does not attach to one. Aqua Terra Backyard does not currently carry the Tara shade sail products this pole is designed to support, so a shade sail is not included and must be sourced separately.

Pro vs. Standard Mod Shade pole

The Tara Mod Shade pole, Pro is aluminum with full slider adjustment and supports shades to 360 square feet; the Standard is steel, fixed height, and supports shades to 282 square feet. The gap is 78 square feet of sail capacity plus the ability to change corner height after the pole is in the ground. On a shade sail, corner height is what sets tension and determines whether water runs off or pools, and getting it exactly right on the first attempt is difficult, which is what the slider is for. Standard is the more economical choice when the sail is comfortably within 282 square feet and the geometry is already proven. Pro is the specification for larger sails, tricky layouts, or installations that may be re-tensioned later.

What does the slider adjustment on the Pro pole do?

The slider on the Tara Mod Shade pole, Pro lets you change the height of the sail's attachment point after the pole is installed. On a shade sail, that adjustment controls fabric tension and the pitch that sheds rainwater, so being able to fine-tune it is the difference between a taut sail and one that sags or pools. The Standard pole has no equivalent, since its height is fixed at installation.

What size shade sail will a Pro pole support?

The Tara Mod Shade pole, Pro supports shades up to 360 square feet, compared with 282 square feet for the Standard pole. The number of poles a given sail needs depends on its shape and corner count, so confirm the layout before ordering.

Fair Trade-Off to Know Before Buying

The same compatibility caveat applies as to the Standard pole: this supports Tara shade sails, and Aqua Terra Backyard does not currently carry that line, so there is nothing here for it to attach to. Beyond that, the Pro costs more than the Standard and the slider only earns its keep if you actually need to adjust corner height. On a straightforward sail well inside 282 square feet, the Standard does the same job. Aluminum is also lighter than steel, which is an advantage in handling and a consideration in exposed, high-wind sites. Common Questions

Does the Pro pole work with the Shade DeLux cantilever?
No. The Tara Mod Shade pole, Pro supports Tara's shade sail lines and is not a Shade DeLux component. The Shade DeLux mounts on its own footers.

Is a shade sail included?
No. This is the support pole only. The sail is a separate Tara product that Aqua Terra Backyard does not currently carry.

Why choose Pro over Standard?
Two reasons: the Pro supports shades up to 360 square feet against the Standard's 282, and it has full slider adjustment so corner height can be tuned after installation. The Standard is fixed height.

Is the Pro pole steel or aluminum?
Aluminum. The Standard pole is steel.

Why can't I select Silver at 90°?
Tara's order sheet lists the Pro pole in Silver at 75° only. Anthracite and brown are available at both angles. If you need Silver at 90°, contact us and we will check availability with Tara.

Which angle should I order?
Kits ship at 75°, which leans the pole 15° from vertical. 90° is vertical and is offered in select applications only.
