Athena Lava Pebbles, 1-2" or 2-3", 50 lb Bag
Athena Lava Pebbles, 1-2" or 2-3", 50 lb Bag

Athena Lava Pebbles come in a 50 lb bag, in a 1 to 2 inch size (NL-3050) or a 2 to 3 inch size (NL-5080). They fill the burner area of a gas fire pit with natural lava for a classic, found in nature look. Athena offers the two sizes so the stones can suit the size of the fire feature, and its drop-in pan manual calls for lava 1 to 2 inches across.

Questions people ask us
Which size should I choose?
For Athena drop-in pans, the manual calls for lava rock 1 to 2 inches in diameter, so choose NL-3050. Athena also offers the larger 2 to 3 inch size (NL-5080) so the stones can suit the scale of the fire feature. Tell us about your fire pit if you are unsure.
How should I lay the pebbles?
Place them naturally over the burner and do not pack them tightly. A loose fill lets gas flow through for a full, even flame. Keep dust out so the pan's weep holes stay clear.
How much do I need?
Each bag is 50 lbs. For reference, Athena's Olympus fire table instructions call for about 20 lbs of media on the 36 inch linear pan and 30 lbs on the round pan. Send us your fire pit size and we will help you work out the number of bags.
Can I add cannonballs on top?
Yes. Athena's pan manual lets you lay logs or cannonballs on top of the lava as accent pieces.
