Athena Cannonballs are round accent pieces for a fire feature, sold as a 2 inch box of 12, a 4 inch box of 8 or a 6 inch box of 4. They sit on top of the fire glass or lava rock and give the flame a bold, modern look. Athena lists them for indoor or outdoor use, and you can mix sizes and colors for a layered look. Set them on top of the media, not on the bare burner.Athena's drop-in pan manual places cannonballs as accent pieces laid on top of the glass or lava rock. Keep the pilot area uncovered so it can breathe, as the fire table instructions describe.

Questions people ask us

How many cannonballs come in a set?

The 2 inch set is a box of 12, the 4 inch set is a box of 8 and the 6 inch set is a box of 4. Each set is one color.

Is the 6 inch Dark Grey still available?

Only in limited numbers. Athena has discontinued the Dark Grey 6 inch set (CB6-4-DGY), so it is sold while supplies last. Black, Grey and White remain in the current line in all three sizes.

Where do they go in the fire pit?

Fill the burner area with fire glass or lava rock first, then lay the cannonballs on top as accents. Leave the pilot area open.

Can I mix sizes and colors?

Yes. Athena notes that its 2, 4 and 6 inch sets can be mixed and matched for a dimensional look.

How many sets do I need?

That depends on the size of your burner area and how much of the media you want to show. Send us your fire pit size and we will suggest a mix.
