Questions people ask us
When do I need an offset adapter?
When the chimney flue sits off to one side of the insert's flue collar, so a straight liner connection is not possible. Where a straight connection works, Osburn's manuals prefer it.
Can I use a firescreen with it?
No. Osburn's instructions strongly discourage a firescreen when an offset is installed, because the restriction raises the risk of smoke leaking from the door.
How is it cleaned?
After sweeping the chimney, remove the front decorative pieces, unscrew the cover on the adapter, clean inside, then refit the cover and the trim.
Will it work in my chimney?
Send us your insert model, chimney height and how far the flue is offset through our contact page and we will check it with you.
