The Modern Flames RedStone is a traditional style electric fireplace that builds into a framed wall or slides into an existing fireplace as an insert, made in 26, 30, 36, 42 and 54 inch sizes. Hybrid-FX flame technology fills a tall viewing area over a log set and glacier crystals, with 10 flame, ember bed and downlight colors. It runs on 120V with a 5,000 BTU heater. Models RS-2621, RS-3021, RS-3626, RS-4229 and RS-5435.

Built-in installs are hardwired.For a built-in, a licensed electrician removes the supplied cord and wires the fireplace to a dedicated circuit. For an insert, the electrician installs the outlet inside the existing fireplace. Follow the manual and local codes.

Questions people ask us

Can it go into my existing fireplace?

Yes. The RedStone works as an insert in an existing fireplace, plugged into an outlet that a licensed electrician installs inside the firebox. It also builds into a framed wall, where it is hardwired.

Which trim do I use?

A 5/8" trim comes installed and a 1 5/8" trim is in the box, so you can choose at install. For the 26, 30 and 36 inch sizes, Modern Flames also makes wider extra-wide trims to cover an existing fireplace opening. See trims and fronts.

What rough opening do I frame?

The 36 inch needs 32 5/8" W x 23 7/8" H x 10" D and the 42 inch 38 3/4" x 26 3/4" x 10". The 54 inch needs 50 15/16" x 32 3/4" x 12". All sizes are in the table above.

How much heat does it give?

The heater gives 5,000 BTU on high (1,465 W) and runs at 733 W on low, with a thermostat. The heater only runs when the flame is on.
