The Lexington Hearth Tobacco Barn 24 inch extension is a 2 foot section that lengthens a Tobacco Barn non-combustible mantel for a wider fireplace or wall. Lexington Hearth matches each extension to its mantel model, so the surface detail (hand-hewn tool marks, deep checking, knots and growth rings on the ends) and the hand-painted finish match the main beam. The extension sets end to end with the main beam, and a decorative bracket trim covers the joint so the run reads as one beam. Lexington Hearth's brochure describes building mantels of 5 to 10 feet and longer this way.

What is an extension for?
Lexington Hearth's standard Tobacco Barn lengths stop at 72 inches. To go longer, you add a 24 inch extension to the main beam, and a decorative bracket trim hides the joint. That lets one mantel span a wide fireplace wall without a custom casting.
Does it come with the bracket trim?
No. The decorative bracket trim is sold separately in Black or Bronze, with a profile made for each mantel style. Order it with the extension so the joint is covered.
How long will my mantel be?
Add 24 inches for each extension to the length of the main beam. A 72 inch mantel with one extension, for example, runs about 96 inches. Each piece is hand-cast, so final lengths can vary slightly.
How does it attach?
It sets end to end with the main beam and the joint is dressed with bracket trim. Lexington Hearth does not post separate extension instructions online, so ask us and we will get the factory's mounting guidance for your layout before you install.
Which finishes can I order?
We list Pale Honey, Roasted Chestnut and Weathered Grey. Lexington Hearth makes the extension in all five standard Tobacco Barn finishes, so ask us if your mantel is in another one.
