A BVM moves far more air than a pocket mask, which matters in a prolonged resuscitation. It is equipment for trained staff, and it belongs wherever your trained staff are.
- More effective ventilationA BVM with an oxygen reservoir delivers far higher concentrations than mouth to mask can.
- Sized adult, child and infantThe wrong size mask seals badly and ventilates poorly. A facility serving families needs more than one size.
- Disposable makes sense at a poolCleaning and reprocessing a BVM properly is more trouble than replacing a disposable one.
Only stock it if your staff are trained on it
A BVM in untrained hands ventilates worse than a pocket mask. Match the equipment on the deck to the certification of the people on it.

Common questions
If your staff are trained to use one, yes. If not, masks are the right call until they are.
Adult as a minimum. Add child and infant if you serve families or run lessons for young children.
Disposable is the usual choice at an aquatic facility, because proper reprocessing is onerous.
It works without, and far better with. If you carry oxygen, specify the reservoir version.
