A rescue tube is the one piece of equipment on the stand that has to work the first time, every time. Kemp builds these in closed cell vinyl foam that stays buoyant after a season of sun, chlorine and being dropped on concrete.

Most facilities replace tubes on a rotation rather than when one fails. Buying a matched set and marking the season on each one makes that rotation obvious instead of a judgment call.

It depends on sun exposure more than use. Vinyl covers chalk and crack from UV, so an outdoor pool replaces more often than an indoor one. Most facilities rotate on a season or two.
