The FireGarden Tempest Lantern 94900756 is a 20,000 BTU propane gas lantern with manual piezo ignition, a tempered glass housing and a black powder-coated frame and cap. Its spiral flame burns inside a four-sided, open-air housing designed to help it stay lit in wind and rain, and the gas shuts off automatically if the flame goes out. It needs no electricity. It sits on a wall mount, post or pier mount, sold separately.

Questions people ask us

Which mount do I need?

The lantern needs one base: a wall mount, a post or a pier mount. For a wall, use the Tempest Lantern Wall Mount, 94800831. For a deck, the Tempest Deck Post, 94800812 fits this lantern and installs on the Tempest Deck Mount, 94800821.

Can I convert it to natural gas?

No. FireGarden builds the lantern for one fuel and it is not convertible. The natural gas version is 94900746. Ask us if that is the one you need.

Is there an electronic ignition version?

Yes. FireGarden also makes the Tempest Lantern with 24V Hot Shot electronic ignition, 94900757 for propane and 94900747 for natural gas. Those need a 24V transformer. Ask us about them.

How do I light it in wet weather?

It has a wet weather lighting port. With the valve set to start, a lit wand lighter goes through the port while you hold the valve in, as the owner's manual describes. If wind or rain puts the flame out, the safety control shuts off the gas.
