Questions people ask us
What do 1200, 1600 and 1900 mean?
They are British Fires names for the same three fireplaces: the New Forest 1200 is the 48", the 1600 is the 63" and the 1900 is the 75". Pick the size option that matches.
Does it plug in, or does it need to be hardwired?
It comes with a 3-pin plug on a 6 ft cord, and the manual calls for it to be on its own 15 amp circuit breaker with no extension cord. It can also be hardwired, and that should be done by a qualified electrician.
What comes in the box?
The manual lists the heater unit, the Deluxe Real Log fuel bed, a wall bracket, the remote with 2 AAA batteries, L-shaped brackets, blanking plates, end trims, firebox screws and suction cups for handling the glass.
Can it go in a corner or be open on three sides?
Yes. It installs front facing with both sides covered, cornered with one side covered, or three sided with both ends open inside a built chimney breast. The opening is the same for all three.
How much clearance does it need?
Keep combustible materials at least 3 ft from the front. If the wall above projects past the front of the fireplace, that overhang must be non-combustible, such as calcium silicate fireboard at least 1/4" thick.
