The SwamCam outlet guard is a stainless steel lock with a security screw that holds a plug in its socket. It stops the SwamCam hub or repeater being unplugged, whether by a child, a cleaner or an unlucky vacuum cord.
What problem does this solve?
An indoor alarm that has been unplugged is an alarm that does not sound. The hub and repeater sit in ordinary wall sockets indoors, which makes them easy to unplug by accident or on purpose.

Where is it worth fitting one?

What does this actually do?
It locks a plug into its socket with a security screw so it cannot simply be pulled out. Its purpose is keeping the SwamCam hub or repeater powered rather than childproofing the outlet itself.
Does it come with the hub or repeater?
No. This is the outlet lock on its own, sold as a small accessory. The sensor hub and the alarm with the built-in WiFi repeater are both separate products with their own listings.
Will it fit any standard outlet?
It is designed for standard household sockets and measures about 1.18 by 0.98 inches. If you have an unusual outlet or faceplate, tell us and we will check before you order.
Do I need a special tool?
It fastens with a security screw, which is the point. Whatever driver the screw takes should be kept somewhere you can find it, since you will need it to unplug the unit deliberately.
Is it a childproofing product for the outlet?
No, and it should not be treated as one. It holds a plug in place. Outlet covers and childproofing for unused sockets are a separate matter entirely.
Is it worth it for a hub tucked away out of sight?
Less so, though accidental unplugging happens anywhere a vacuum or a phone charger competes for the socket. It is cheap insurance on the one device you need to stay powered.
