SwamCam 15ft Power Cable and Adapter

The SwamCam 15ft power cable and adapter set is the standard length run, supplied with the current style adapter. The adapter carries a further 5ft lead of its own, which is why the in-box run on a new system is described as 20ft.

Which power item do you need?

This is the standard length with the adapter included, and the closest match to what ships in the box with a new system.

Model Cable Adapter Buy it when
SCPP50 50 ft Included Long run, and you need the current style adapter
SCPC50 50 ft Not included Long run, and your adapter is already the current style
SCPP16 15 ft Included Short run, and you need the current style adapter
SCPC16 15 ft Not included Short run, and your adapter is already the current style
SCPA6 None Adapter only Replacing just the power pack, reusing the camera cable
Order by SKU, not by the length in the name. SwamCam has renamed these items at least twice. The SKU digits still carry the older nominal lengths, so SCPP16 and SCPC16 are the items some paperwork calls 16 foot, and SCPA6 is the one called 6 foot. The SKU is the only identifier that has stayed constant.

Why the manufacturer's 20ft figure and this 15ft cable agree. The camera specification quotes a 20ft cord in the box. That is the 15ft cable plus the 5ft lead on the adapter. There is no separate 20ft product, and nothing is missing.

Is 15ft enough for your install?

It is enough when the camera mounts on the house near an outlet, which covers many installs. It is not enough once the camera moves out onto a fence or a post away from the building, and that is when the 50ft run earns its place.

Measure before you mount. SwamCam is an additional layer of protection. It is not a substitute for a barrier or for supervision, and constant adult supervision is still required.

What else do buyers ask about the 15ft Power Cable and Adapter?

How do I know which cable length I need?

Measure from the outlet you intend to use to the mounting point, following the route the cable will actually take rather than a straight line. Then allow slack. Cord length is the most common install mistake on this product.

Which adapter style do I have?

If your system is recent it will be the current style. If you are not sure, send us a photo of the adapter or tell us roughly when the system was installed and we will identify it before you order.

Can I join two cables to reach further?

We would not recommend it. Use the 50ft cable for a long run rather than joining shorter ones, which introduces a connection point outdoors and a possible failure point in the camera's power.

Does the cable need to be buried or protected?

Follow the manufacturer's instructions and any local electrical requirements for outdoor runs. If the route crosses somewhere people walk or mow, protect it. This is a question for your electrician rather than for us.

Why does the camera spec say 20ft but this says 15ft?

Because the 20ft figure is the whole run. It is this 15ft cable plus the 5ft lead built into the adapter. The two numbers describe the same thing measured differently.

Why is this SKU called 16 when the product says 15ft?

SwamCam renamed the item and left the SKU alone. The SKU digits carry the older nominal length. Order by the SKU, SCPP16, and you will get the right part whichever name your paperwork uses.

Not sure whether 15ft or 50ft?

Measure the real route from outlet to mounting point and add slack. If the number is anywhere near 15, take the 50ft and have the margin. Manuals, warranties and certificates are on our manuals and guides page. Aqua Terra Backyard is a retailer, not an installer.
