The Superior black facade kit is the optional decorative surround for the DRL2000 and DRL3500 series direct vent linear gas fireplaces, made in a 35" size (DS-BLK-RNCL35, catalog F4238) and a 45" size (DS-BLK-RNCL45, catalog F4240). It frames the glass with a black top, bottom and two side panels that screw together and hang on the same hooks as the barrier screen. It suits drywall finishes where you want a clean black border around the fire.

Plan for the facade before framing.IHP's instructions require 6" of clearance to the floor for this facade, and the DRL spec sheet calls for the unit to sit at least 6" off the floor to take it. Install it only after the fireplace is in, the gas line is leak tested and the burner has been checked.

Which fireplaces does it fit?

The 35" kit (DS-BLK-RNCL35) fits the DRL2035 and DRL3535. The 45" kit (DS-BLK-RNCL45) fits the DRL2045 and DRL3545. Match the kit to the size in your fireplace model number.

Is the facade required?

No. Superior lists it as an optional facade. Without it, finish the wall around the fireplace as the installation manual describes.

How does it attach?

You screw the four panels together face down with the 8 supplied screws, then hang the assembled facade on the same hooks as the barrier screen. The barrier screen comes off first.

Is there a stainless version?

Superior also makes this facade in stainless steel. We list the black kit here, so ask us if you want stainless.
