This is the optional Superior drain pan for the VRE4336 and VRE4342 outdoor gas fireplaces: DPSS36 (catalog H4651) for the 36 inch model and DPSS42 (H4652) for the 42 inch model. IHP offers it to help weatherproof the fireplace by catching water under the unit and sending it to a drain line. It raises the framing height by 3/4 inch.

Plan the drain before the fireplace goes in.Seal all joints, gaps and corners around the bottom of the pan before setting the fireplace, and leave room below it to run the drain line to a suitable place. The fireplace must sit level.

Which size do I need?

DPSS36 for the VRE4336 and DPSS42 for the VRE4342. The size is in the model number on the rating label.

Does it change my framing?

Yes. The manual says to raise the framing height from 46-1/2 to 47-1/4 inches when the drain pan is installed.

How does the water drain?

A threaded PVC reducer goes through the drain hole and a 90 degree elbow threads onto it. From there you run piping to a suitable drain location, so leave space under the fireplace for it.

Can I add it later?

The pan sits under the fireplace and changes the framing height, so it is best planned before installation. Ask us about your situation.
