Sunstar SGL35 Infrared Heater Package, Propane, Marine Grade, Switch Control, Adjustable Mount
The SGL35 puts 35,000 BTU per hour of ceramic infrared heat over roughly twelve feet by twelve, and drops to 24,000 when the evening is milder. This package is the heater, an adjustable mounting kit that takes the heater from 15 to 60 degrees on a wall or a ceiling, so what arrives is everything the installer needs rather than a heater and a shopping list.
- Two stages, not one setting. High for a cold night, low for a mild one. A heater with a single output is either too much or not enough for most of the season.
- Infrared warms people, not air. The heat lands on you and on the furniture rather than on the breeze, which is why it still works outdoors and why it is rated to hold up in wind to 40 MPH.
- Two stages from a hardwired wall switch. High, low and off, from a switch that cannot be mislaid. If you want a remote as well, the kit is part 44640010 and it can go on later.
Mounting height is 8 to 11 ft horizontal, 7 to 9 ft between 5 and 30 degrees and 6.5 to 8 ft between 30 and 60 degrees. Settle that height first, because it decides where the gas stub and the outlet have to come out of the wall. Gas work and the electrical supply are for a licensed professional. Have the gas line sized for every appliance on the run rather than for this heater alone, and confirm the supply pressure at the heater before it is commissioned.

Shipping and returns
Ships by freight with liftgate service, delivered curbside and by appointment. Check the carton for damage before you sign for it, and note anything you see on the delivery paperwork. Returns inside 30 days on unused stock in the original packaging.
Questions we get asked
Can I run this indoors?
Outdoors, yes. Indoors it is for non-residential spaces only, and those need at least 4 CFM of exhaust air for every 1,000 BTU per hour the heater is putting out. Tell us the room and whoever does your gas work will size the ventilation against that figure.
Can I change the fuel later?
No. The heater is built at the factory for natural gas or for propane and the two are not interchangeable. If you are not certain which runs to the spot, send us a photo of the meter or the tank and we will tell you which one to order.
Does it need power as well as gas?
Yes. The ignition and the controls run on 120 volt, 60 hertz single phase at 0.4 amp. It is a small supply but it has to be there, so put it on the electrician's list before the ceiling closes up.
Is marine grade worth it away from the coast?
Only if the air is doing the same job to it. 316 stainless is for salt air, pool chemistry and anywhere that is washed down often. Ten miles inland on a covered patio, the black finish will last just as long for a good deal less.
