Questions people ask us
What is the difference between Bedrock Contemporary and Bedrock Traditional?
Bedrock Contemporary is a linear flame rated at 15,000 BTU per foot, finished with glass or lava media and, if you like, 6 inch cannonballs or concrete driftwood logs. Bedrock Traditional comes with a Driftwood GlowFire log set, from 9 pieces on the 48 inch to 18 pieces on the 96 inch.
Does it need media?
Yes. Both burners call for 1/2 inch reflective glass or lava granules at 5 lbs per foot, which works out to 20 lbs on the 48 inch and 40 lbs on the 96 inch. Media is ordered separately.
Which interior panels come with it?
A matte black panel set is included. Summit also offers black tempered glass and black fluted fiber panels for either burner, plus offset black fiber brick and stacked gray fiber brick for the Contemporary burner. See the panel options.
Can it go in a corner or be open on three sides?
Yes. The same unit frames as a front view, left corner, right corner or bay fireplace. Corner and bay installs use Summit's corner kits, so tell us the layout when you order.
How is it vented?
It uses a 12 inch B-vent with natural draft. When the standard vent run cannot be met, or the vent has to end horizontally, Summit's optional power vent is used instead.
Not sure which size and burner to pick?
