How to Read a Raypak Digital Model Number
[Header]-R[BTU]A-[Ignition][Fuel]-[Material] #[Elevation] — P/B = header type (Polymer standard / Bronze Professional), E/M = ignition, N/P = fuel, C/X = tube material (Copper/Cupro-Nickel). #50/#51/#52 (natural gas) = elevation: 0–2,000 ft / 2,000–6,000 ft / 6,000–9,000 ft. Propane uses #57/#58/#61 for the same tiers.

Sizing Guidance
266,000 BTU covers most mid-to-larger residential pools well. If your pool is on the smaller side and heat-up speed isn't critical, the 199,000 BTU model saves you about $340. If you want faster recovery on a large pool or spa, the 332,000 or 399,000 BTU steps are worth considering.
Copper vs. Cupro-Nickel vs. Professional Series
Standard copper tubing is proven and economical for most installations. Cupro-nickel resists corrosion better in high-salt or poor water chemistry environments. The Professional Series (bronze headers, cupro-nickel) is Raypak's commercial-duty tier for heavier use.
Install Note
Gas heater installation involves gas line sizing, venting, and electrical work — use a licensed professional per local code. Confirm elevation, gas type, and BTU needs with your installer before ordering.
