If the pump connection is leaking, the union is cracked, or the wet-end plumbing no longer tightens and seals correctly after service, the union is one of the first connection parts to inspect. A bad union can create recurring leaks and make a clean pump installation much harder than it should be.
This 1-1/2 inch pump union is used on the Raypak Protege RPVSP1 to connect the pump to the plumbing system while still allowing service removal. When the original union body or sealing surface is damaged, the connection can no longer stay watertight under normal circulation pressure. Replacing it restores the pump-side plumbing connection with the proper union fit.
