If the pilot flame is weak, inconsistent, or not receiving gas even though the rest of the pilot assembly appears intact, the pilot tube is worth checking early. A kinked, cracked, or restricted tube can starve the pilot and turn a simple tubing issue into repeated ignition failure.
This pilot tube carries gas from the valve to the pilot assembly on compatible 207 through 407 heaters. When the line is damaged, blocked, or no longer sealing correctly at the ends, pilot gas flow suffers and the heater may fail to light or stay lit.
