If your heater is leaking from the return side, showing corrosion around the outlet header, or losing integrity where heated water exits the exchanger, the return header is one of the first water-side components to inspect. This return header collects heated water as it leaves the exchanger and directs it back into the plumbing path on compatible pool and spa heaters.
