If your heater suddenly goes dead and will not continue through the heating cycle after an overheating event, the thermal cut-off fuse is one of the first safety parts to inspect. When this fuse opens, the heater loses a critical protective link and will not run until the failed component is replaced.
This thermal cut-off fuse kit protects the heater by interrupting operation if temperature at the protected point exceeds the fuse limit. It is a one-time safety device, so once it opens, it has to be replaced rather than reset. Replacing it restores that layer of overheat protection, but the reason it opened should also be corrected before the heater goes back into service.
