PGS Legacy Newport-740 Grill Head, 30 in

The smallest of the three Legacy heads and the one most patios want. PGS publishes 540 square inches of main cooking area on a 27 by 20 inch grid, plus a 200 square inch warming rack, which is where the 740 in the name comes from. Everything you touch is 304 stainless: the VARI GRID variably spaced cooking grids, the FlipGrate, the anti theft knobs and a side mounted temperature gauge. Battery powered electronic ignition, so there is no wiring to run.

This is a head. It needs something to stand on.

PGS sells the grill and the mount separately, and the gas connection lives in the mount, so a head on its own cannot be used. On natural gas it takes the S27NPED permanent pedestal. On propane it takes the S27CART, which PGS builds specifically for the propane Newport heads. It can also drop into the 57 inch Gensun Modano island or into your own masonry. The Newport cart does not fit a Pacifica, and the Pacifica cart does not fit a Newport, so the builder on our PGS page keeps the two apart.

Standard, or Gourmet Timer

The Gourmet Timer version carries PGS FuelStop, a one hour gas flow timer built into the control panel that shuts the gas off on its own and needs no electrical supply. It is the version specified for shared and unattended spaces. Note that PGS does not offer Moon Rok briquettes on the timer heads.

Before you order

PGS requires the enclosed warranty registration card to be returned for the warranty to be in place, and the warranty covers residential use: their manual states commercial, common area or apartment use carries no warranty. Note also that AEI publishes 43,000 BTU on the model page and 45,000 on their own store. We quote the model page. If the exact figure matters to your build, ask us and we will get it confirmed.
