Trash Receptacle Hinged Lid
The solid teak hinged lid made for Oxford Garden's 22 inch Trash Receptacle. It closes the top, which keeps rain, leaves and interested wildlife out of the liner, and it finishes the receptacle so it reads as a piece of furniture rather than an open bin.
- Made for the TR22K receptacle. Oxford Garden builds this lid for their 22 inch teak trash receptacle. It is an accessory to that item, not a universal lid.
- Solid teak, same construction. Mortise and tenon joints and solid wood dowels, in the same teak as the receptacle, so the two weather together rather than apart.
- Hinged, not lift off. It swings rather than needing somewhere to put it down, which matters on a receptacle that gets used one handed.
- 2.5 inches tall. It adds almost nothing to the height of the receptacle. At 5 lb it is easy to open and stays put in a breeze.

Materials and Construction
Frame. Solid teak, sustainably sourced. Teak is used outdoors because of what is already in it: a high natural oil content that resists water absorption, insects and rot without any coating.
Finish. Supplied unfinished in natural teak. Left alone, the surface oxidizes to a soft silver gray over roughly one season. That change is cosmetic and does not affect the strength of the wood.

Care and Maintenance
Teak. No treatment is required. To keep the honey tone rather than let it silver, apply a teak sealer once a season to a dry frame. Do not use a pressure washer, which tears the soft grain out from between the harder rings. For general cleaning, warm water, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the grain.
Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

What does it fit?
Oxford Garden's 22 inch Trash Receptacle, item TR22K. It is listed as the accessory lid for that receptacle. If you are fitting it to something else, send us the opening dimension and we will check it with Oxford Garden before the order goes in.
Why is the lid 15.5 inches when the receptacle is 21.5?
Because 21.5 inches is the outside of the teak box and the lid covers the opening inside it, not the full outer footprint. Both figures are exactly as Oxford Garden prints them in the 2026 price list.
Do I need it?
Not structurally. The receptacle works open. The lid is worth having where rain would fill the liner, where leaves blow in, or where the receptacle sits somewhere that animals will find it overnight.
Does it lock or latch?
Oxford Garden lists it as a hinged lid. Nothing in the specification describes a latch or a lock, so we are not going to tell you it has one.
Will it match a receptacle I bought a few seasons ago?
In material, yes, it is the same teak. In tone, not immediately. New teak is honey colored and weathered teak is silver gray, so a new lid on an older receptacle will stand out until it catches up, over roughly a season.
How is it delivered?
By parcel carrier. The carton is 17 by 19 by 2 inches at 5 lb, so it arrives like any other package.
Will the teak go gray?
Yes, over roughly one season outdoors, unless it is sealed. That is surface oxidation and does not weaken the wood. Oxford Garden's Teak Protectant or Australian Timber Oil holds the original tone if you prefer it.
