Trash Receptacle 22"

A solid teak waste receptacle built to the same standard as Oxford Garden's benches, with a removable liner inside. It is a commercial object in a residential material, which is why it turns up at pool houses, restaurant terraces and the side of a long outdoor bar.

TeakMaterial
  • Solid teak, joined not screwed. Mortise and tenon joints pinned with solid wood dowels. No hardware to rust and bleed down the slats.
  • Liner included. A removable liner ships with the receptacle, so what you empty is the liner and not the teak box.
  • 21.5 inches square, 33.5 inches tall. Counter height, so nobody has to bend to use it, and wide enough that it does not get knocked over by the first person who leans on it.
  • A hinged lid is available. Oxford Garden lists the Trash Receptacle Hinged Lid as a separate item if you want the top closed.

Product Details

The Trash Receptacle 22 inch is Oxford Garden's solid teak waste receptacle: a slatted teak box on mortise and tenon joints, 21.5 inches square and 33.5 inches high, with a removable liner inside it. It is built to the same specification as their benches, which is why it holds up in commercial use.

Manufacturer item code TR22K, page 66 of the Oxford Garden 2026 price list. Ships in two cartons for assembly on site. The hinged lid is a separate item.

Materials and Construction

Frame. Solid teak, sustainably sourced. Teak is used outdoors because of what is already in it: a high natural oil content that resists water absorption, insects and rot without any coating.

Finish. Supplied unfinished in natural teak. Left alone, the surface oxidizes to a soft silver gray over roughly one season. That change is cosmetic and does not affect the strength of the wood.

What Is Included
  • One Trash Receptacle 22 inch in solid teak, flat packed
  • One removable liner
  • Solid wood dowels and assembly instructions

The hinged lid is a separate item and is not included.

Care and Maintenance

Teak. No treatment is required. To keep the honey tone rather than let it silver, apply a teak sealer once a season to a dry frame. Do not use a pressure washer, which tears the soft grain out from between the harder rings. For general cleaning, warm water, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the grain.

Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the liner included?

Yes. Oxford Garden lists the receptacle as including its liner, so the teak box never takes the waste directly. You lift the liner out to empty it and the teak stays clean.

Does it come with a lid?

No. The Trash Receptacle Hinged Lid is listed separately as item TRHLK and is designed for this receptacle. Order it alongside if you want the top closed.

How tall is it compared with a normal bin?

33.5 inches, which is roughly kitchen counter height and taller than most domestic bins. That is deliberate on a commercial receptacle: people drop things in without stooping, and the opening is at a height where it reads as furniture rather than as a bin.

Does it need assembling?

Yes. It arrives in two cartons and goes together with solid wood dowels the same way Oxford Garden's benches do. The two box split is what keeps a 33.5 inch tall object shippable.

Will the teak go gray?

It will, over roughly one season outdoors. The silver gray patina is surface oxidation and does not weaken the wood. Oxford Garden's Teak Protectant or Australian Timber Oil will hold the original tone if you would rather keep it.

Can it live outdoors all year?

Yes. Teak's natural oils resist water, insects and rot without a coating, which is why it is used for exactly this kind of hard use outdoor object.

How is it delivered?

By LTL freight to the curb with lift gate service. It ships in two cartons weighing 66 lb together, which is past parcel limits, so it moves on a pallet and you will be contacted to arrange the delivery.

Where does this normally go?

Pool decks, restaurant terraces, hotel courtyards and the ends of long outdoor bars. Anywhere a plastic bin would look wrong next to teak furniture and a bin is still needed.
