Signature Series 5' Bench in Solid Teak
A five foot solid teak bench with a 36.5 inch back, part of Oxford Garden's Signature series of laser-engraved benches. It is the piece people buy when a bench has to carry a name or a date as well as hold three people.
- A 60.5 inch bench with a 36.5 inch back. An inch and a half taller in the back than Oxford Garden's standard teak benches, which gives the back rail more surface and the bench more presence at the end of a path.
- Laser engraving is what the Signature series is for. Oxford Garden builds this bench to be engraved. The engraving detail is settled before the order goes in, not after.
- Dining height seating at 17.25 inches. The same seat height as Oxford Garden's Classic teak chairs, so it can be used at a table as well as on its own.
- 47.6 pounds of solid teak. A memorial or dedication bench has to survive being left alone in weather for decades. Unfinished teak has no coating that can fail.

Materials and Construction
Frame. Solid teak, sustainably sourced. Teak is used outdoors because of what is already in it: a high natural oil content that resists water absorption, insects and rot without any coating.
Finish. Supplied unfinished in natural teak. Left alone, the surface oxidizes to a soft silver gray over roughly one season. That change is cosmetic and does not affect the strength of the wood.

Care and Maintenance
Teak. No treatment is required. To keep the honey tone rather than let it silver, apply a teak sealer once a season to a dry frame. Do not use a pressure washer, which tears the soft grain out from between the harder rings. For general cleaning, warm water, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the grain.
Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

What does Signature mean on this bench?
It is Oxford Garden's name for its laser-engraved bench series. The frame is the same solid teak as the rest of the range; the difference is that this one is built to be engraved.
What can be engraved on it?
That is settled case by case, and we confirm the wording, the placement and the cost in writing before the order goes in.
How many people does it seat?
Three adults across the 60.5 inch bench. The back runs the full length, so the middle seat is as usable as the two outer ones.
Is it different in size from the Classic 5 foot bench?
Slightly. Both are 60.5 inches long and 26.5 inches deep with a 17.25 inch seat. The Signature bench stands 36.5 inches tall against the Classic bench's 35 inches.
Will it survive being left in a park or a garden unattended?
That is what unfinished teak is for. There is no paint to peel and no coating to maintain. The surface silvers in the first season and the frame stays sound for decades.
Does it arrive assembled?
No. The carton is only 6 inches deep, so the bench ships flat and assembles on site. Start every fastener before you tighten any of them and the frame pulls up square.
Can I keep the honey color instead of letting it silver?
Yes. Apply a teak sealer once a season to a dry frame. Sealing is cosmetic only; an unsealed bench is exactly as strong as a sealed one.
How is it delivered?
