Palo Bowls End Table in Arctic GFRC
A cast concrete end table in the shape the name describes: two bowls meeting at a waist, 15.75 inches square at the top and 17.75 inches high. Oxford Garden lists this one in Arctic, the lighter of the two Palo finishes.
- An hourglass form in cast GFRC. The waisted profile is what the material buys you. A solid concrete table this shape would be far heavier and far easier to crack.
- A 15.75 inch top at 17.75 inches high. Sized and set to stand beside a lounge chair, with the top at about arm height on most deep seat outdoor seating.
- 31.5 pounds. Heavy enough that nothing blows it over, light enough that one person can reposition it. That is the balance a solid concrete table of the same size would miss.
- Arctic finish. The pale Palo finish, which reads as stone rather than as a dark accent, and sits quietly beside both teak and powder coated aluminum.

Materials and Construction
Material. GFRC, glass fiber reinforced concrete. Glass fibers are worked through the mix so the casting carries tension as well as compression, which is what allows a concrete table to be cast in a shaped, waisted form instead of a heavy block.
Finish. Supplied in Arctic. Oxford Garden casts Palo in two GFRC finishes, Arctic and Iron. Arctic is the pale of the two.
Surface. Every casting comes out of the mold slightly different. Small variations in tone and texture across the surface are normal in cast concrete and are the reason a cast table does not read like a molded one.

Care and Maintenance
Cast concrete. Wash with mild soap, water and a soft brush. Avoid acidic cleaners, which etch a concrete surface, and avoid dragging the table across stone or concrete, which chips the lower edge. A sealer sold for cast concrete helps keep oil and wine out of the surface if the table sits where food is served.
Off season. The table can stay outside all year. Where water can pool on or under it, clear it before a hard freeze.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is it different from the Palo Drum End Table?
Shape, size and finish. The Bowls table is 15.75 inches square in Arctic; the Drum is 13.5 inches square in Iron. Both stand 17.75 inches high, so the two can be used side by side without a step between the tops.
Is it the right height next to a lounge chair?
For most deep seat outdoor seating, yes. At 17.75 inches the top lands at or slightly above the seat cushion and just below the arm, which is where you want it for setting a glass down.
Why is the shipping weight so much higher than the table?
Cast concrete travels in heavy protective packaging, and that is what you are seeing. The carton is 23 by 22 by 25 inches, so the crate and the padding account for most of the difference.
Will it stain?
Cast concrete is porous, so oil, wine and citrus can leave a mark if they sit. A sealer made for cast concrete closes the surface. Wipe spills rather than leaving them to dry.
Can it stay out all winter?
Yes. It has no coating to fail and nothing in it to rot. Where water can pool on the top or collect underneath, clear it before a hard freeze.
Will it chip?
Concrete chips at the edges if you knock it into stone or drag it across a hard patio. Lift it rather than sliding it and it will stay clean.
