Oxford Adirondack Footstool in Solid Teak

The teak footstool built to go with the Oxford Adirondack Chair. It is 22 inches wide, 19.5 inches deep and 16.5 inches high, which puts the top just above the chair's 16 inch seat so your legs run slightly uphill rather than dropping off the end.

  • Sized to the Adirondack chair. 22 inches wide against the chair's 31 inch frame, and 16.5 inches high against its 16 inch seat. It lines up without a gap and without a step.
  • Slatted top, same as the chair. Water drains through and the boards weather at the same rate as the chair beside it, so the pair stays matched as both silver.
  • 14.7 pounds. Light enough to drag over with a foot, heavy enough not to slide when you put your weight on it.
  • Useful on its own. At 22 by 19.5 inches it also works as a low side table beside a lounge chair or as extra perch seating.

Product Details

The Oxford Adirondack Footstool is the matching ottoman for the Oxford Adirondack Chair, in solid unfinished teak with a slatted top. It is dimensioned so the top sits marginally above the chair seat, which is what keeps your legs supported rather than hanging.

Materials and Construction

Frame. Solid teak, sustainably sourced. Teak is used outdoors because of what is already in it: a high natural oil content that resists water absorption, insects and rot without any coating.

Finish. Supplied unfinished in natural teak. Left alone, the surface oxidizes to a soft silver gray over roughly one season. That change is cosmetic and does not affect the strength of the wood.

Care and Maintenance

Teak. No treatment is required. To keep the honey tone rather than let it silver, apply a teak sealer once a season to a dry frame. Do not use a pressure washer, which tears the soft grain out from between the harder rings. For general cleaning, warm water, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the grain.

Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it have to be used with the Adirondack chair?

No, but it is proportioned for it. The top sits half an inch above the chair's 16 inch seat, which is the relationship you want for your legs. Against a taller lounge chair it will feel low.

Can I use it as a side table?

Yes. The top is 22 by 19.5 inches of slatted teak at 16.5 inches high, which is a normal outdoor side table height. Rain drains through the slats, so nothing pools on it.

Will it hold an adult sitting on it?

It is built as a footstool, and the solid teak frame is the same construction as the chair. For occasional perching it is fine. It has no back, so it is not a seat for a long evening.

Does it arrive assembled?

No. The carton is only a few inches deep, so the piece ships flat and assembles on site. Lay the parts out first, start every fastener before you tighten any of them, and the frame pulls up square.

Will the teak turn gray?

It will, over roughly a season outdoors, unless you seal it. The silver gray is surface oxidation and does not weaken the wood. A teak sealer applied once a season to a dry frame holds the honey color instead.

Can it stay outside through the winter?

Yes. Teak carries its own oil, which is why it is used on boat decks and why this frame needs no coating. Freeze and thaw cycles do not damage it and nothing needs to come in.

How does it ship?

By parcel carrier at 16 pounds, in a single 25 by 22 by 7 inch carton. It is the one piece in this part of the Oxford collection small enough to arrive without a freight appointment.
