Materials and Construction
Frame. Marine grade aluminum, powder coated. Aluminum does not rust, so the frame does not depend on a coating staying perfect to survive, and it stays light enough that one person can move the piece without help. The powder coat is baked on rather than sprayed, which is why it holds at the joints where outdoor furniture usually fails first.
Sling. One tensioned panel of outdoor sling fabric carries the seat and the back. There is no cushion to carry in and out, and rain passes straight through the weave instead of sitting in foam.
Feet. Leg end caps are fitted at the factory so the frame does not mark decking, tile or stone when it is slid rather than lifted.

Care and Maintenance
Sling. Hose it down and let it dry. Sling fabric drains and dries on its own and does not need to come inside. For a stubborn mark, mild soap and a soft brush.
Powder coated aluminum. Wash with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners, which dull the finish. Touch up a deep scratch promptly so salt and grit have nothing to work at.
Off season. The powder coated aluminum frame can stay outside all year.

What counter height does this suit?
A 30.5 inch seat is bar height, for a bar or counter surface near 42 inches. A 36 inch kitchen island is counter height and wants a seat around 24 to 26 inches instead, so this chair would sit too high against it.
Which sling fabric do I get?
You choose it. The price list prints this chair's item code with the sling position left open, which is different from the Orso sling armchair and side chair, where the sling is fixed at code S.S001. Tell us the sling you want when you order.
How does it compare with the woven Orso bar chair?
Identical footprint and seat height, both 22 inches wide and 30.5 inches to the seat. The difference is the seat itself: a tensioned sling panel here against a hand woven wicker bucket there, and 12 pounds against 16.
Is the footrest strong enough to stand on?
It is welded into the frame rather than clamped on, which is the right construction for the part of a bar chair people actually push against. We would still not recommend standing on it to reach a shelf.
Do I need to assemble it?
No. It arrives fully assembled with the sling already tensioned. Take the packaging off and pull it up to the counter.
Can it stay outside all year?
Yes. Aluminum does not rust and the sling drains rather than holding water, so there is nothing to store and nothing a freeze can damage.
How is it delivered?
By LTL freight to the curb with lift gate service. At 48 inches tall the carton is beyond what parcel carriers accept, so the freight carrier contacts you to arrange a delivery window.
