What is the Orso Wicker Bar Chair made of?
The weave is resin wicker over an aluminum frame. Unlike natural cane it does not absorb water, split in frost or grow brittle in sun, and the color runs through the strand rather than sitting on the surface, so a scuff does not show a pale core.
The frame is powder coated aluminum. Powder coat is applied dry and electrostatically, then cured under heat into a continuous shell, which gives a harder and more chip resistant surface than wet paint. How do I care for resin wicker?
Hose the weave down and brush it with mild soapy water. Getting into the weave matters more than scrubbing hard, since dirt collects in the crossings rather than on the surface.
Do not pressure wash the weave. The strands are held under tension and a close range jet can loosen or cut them.
The aluminum frame underneath needs no treatment. Bring cushions in at the end of the season; the weave itself can stay out.
