Nearly seven feet of Blonde Cane Weave on a powder coated aluminum frame, with Sunbrella cushions and an 18 inch seat. It is the largest piece on Mende's page and the one that sets the scale for everything arranged around it.
- 82.25 inches across. A full three seat sofa, not a loveseat stretched to fit. It needs a terrace that can give it a clear seven foot run.
- Blonde Cane Weave on the whole body. Oxford Garden's synthetic cane, weave code W.BC and used on Mende only. It wraps the back and sides rather than appearing as an inset panel.
- Cast Ash is the stocked fabric. Mende is the only Oxford Garden collection whose stocked cushion sits in Grade A. Cast Ash, code AH, is the fabric it is stocked in.
- An 18 inch seat, 34.25 inches deep. Identical to the Mende Club Chair, so a sofa and a pair of chairs read as one group rather than three separate purchases.

Oxford Garden prices cushions by fabric grade. The cushion itself does not change between grades. Foam, cover construction and finished dimensions are identical; what changes is the Sunbrella fabric book you are choosing from, and that is what moves the price.

Materials and Construction
Frame. Marine grade aluminum, powder coated. Aluminum does not rust, so the frame does not depend on a coating staying perfect to survive, and it stays light enough that one person can move the piece without help. The powder coat is baked on rather than sprayed, which is why it holds at the joints where outdoor furniture usually fails first.
Weave. Blonde Cane Weave, Oxford Garden weave code W.BC and used on the Mende collection only. It is a synthetic cane that reads like traditional caning but is built for commercial duty outdoors, so it does not swell, split or mildew the way natural cane does when it is rained on.
Feet. Leg end caps are fitted at the factory so the frame does not mark decking, tile or stone when it is slid rather than lifted.
Cushions. Solution dyed acrylic. The color goes into the fiber before it is spun rather than being printed onto finished cloth, which is why these fabrics hold color in direct sun far longer than a conventional outdoor print.

Care and Maintenance
Cushions. Brush off loose dirt, sponge with mild soap and lukewarm water, rinse thoroughly and air dry. Do not machine dry. Bring cushions in or cover them when the piece is not in use for long stretches.
Blonde Cane Weave. Rinse and wipe with mild soap and water, using a soft brush along the weave rather than across it. It needs no oiling or sealing, which is the practical difference from natural cane.
Powder coated aluminum. Wash with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners, which dull the finish. Touch up a deep scratch promptly so salt and grit have nothing to work at.
Off season. The powder coated aluminum frame can stay outside all year.

The carton is 83 inches long by 35 wide by 31 high and the sofa itself is 82.25 by 34.25. That clears a 36 inch gate turned on edge, but a tight corner in a side path will stop it. Measure the route before delivery day.

Blonde Cane Weave is Oxford Garden's synthetic cane, weave code W.BC, used on Mende and on nothing else in the line. It gives the look of traditional caning with commercial outdoor durability, so it does not swell, split or mildew the way natural cane does once it has been rained on.
Does it match the Mende Club Chair?
