Market Umbrella Stand -70 lb.
The heavier of Oxford Garden's two weighted umbrella stands, 71 pounds under a stainless steel cover. It accepts poles up to 2 inches, which makes it the only stand in the range that will take the 6 by 10 foot rectangular umbrella, and it is the one to use with a nine foot canopy in open ground.
- Takes poles up to 2 inches. The widest pole capacity Oxford Garden lists, and the only stand that accepts the 1.875 inch pole on the 6 by 10 foot rectangular umbrella.
- 71 pounds in a 19 inch square. The weight is in the footprint rather than in the height, so it sits under a table without getting in anyone's way.
- #304 stainless steel cover. The visible face of the stand is stainless, not painted steel, which is what keeps a ground level object looking right after a few seasons.
- For freestanding umbrellas. Intended for use on its own or with tables other than the RD48TA and RD67TA, which take the Market Umbrella Table Clamp instead.

Materials and Construction
Base. A weighted stand under a #304 stainless steel cover. Stainless is used on the visible face because the stand sits on the ground in the wet, which is the hardest place on a terrace to keep a finish.
Finish. Powder coated, which is baked on rather than sprayed and holds up at the edges where a stand gets kicked and dragged.
Assembly. The stand ships flat in a 4 inch carton and is put together on site. Oxford Garden provides the umbrella stand assembly sheet at oxfordgarden.com.

Care and Maintenance
Stainless and powder coat. Wash with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners, which dull the finish. Rinse off salt and grit rather than letting them sit.
Off season. The stand can stay outside all year. Lift it off a wood deck occasionally so water is not trapped underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 71 pounds enough for a nine foot umbrella?
It is the heaviest stand Oxford Garden lists, and the one they point to for the larger canopies. Weight is only half of it though: keep the canopy closed when nobody is sitting under it, and on an exposed site put the stand under a table so the table adds its own resistance.
Will it fit through the hole in my table?
The stand is 19 inches square and 13 inches high, so it goes under a table, not through it. The pole passes up through the table's umbrella hole and down into the stand. Check that you have 13 inches of clear height under the table before you order.
Does it come assembled?
No. It ships flat in a 20 by 20 by 4 inch carton and is assembled on site, which is also why a 71 or 41 pound stand can be delivered on a pallet rather than wrestled through a gate in one piece.
What is the stainless steel cover for?
It is the visible top face of the stand. An umbrella stand sits on the ground in standing water and gets kicked, so Oxford Garden puts #304 stainless on the surface you see rather than relying on paint alone.
Can I use it on a wood deck?
Yes. Lift it occasionally and let the deck underneath dry out, the same as you would with a planter. Nothing sitting still on a wood deck should sit still forever.
Can I use this with a table that has an umbrella hole?
Yes, that is the normal arrangement. The stand goes under the table and the pole passes up through the hole. Oxford Garden notes it is for tables other than the RD48TA and RD67TA, which use the Market Umbrella Table Clamp.
How is it delivered?
By LTL freight to the curb with lift gate service. At 77 lb it is past parcel weight, so it moves on a pallet and you will be contacted to arrange the delivery.
Why does the name say 70 pounds when the specification says 71?
The stand is named for its nominal 70 pound weight. The measured assembled weight is 71 pounds, which is the figure to plan around.
