A padded sling dining chair on a powder coated aluminum frame, and a remarkably small one: 17.5 inches wide, 18 inches deep and nine pounds. Ellria is the chair for a balcony or a tight terrace where a full size dining chair would swallow the space.
- A 17.5 inch frame. Narrower than almost anything else Oxford Garden builds. Six of them fit where four conventional dining chairs fit.
- Padded sling, not bare sling. There is a layer of padding between the faces of the sling, so the seat has give in it without a cushion that has to be brought in when it rains.
- Nine pounds. Light enough to move with one hand and to rearrange constantly, which is what a small outdoor space needs its chairs to do.
- A 17.25 inch seat. Full dining height despite the compact frame, so it works at a standard 29 inch table rather than only at a bistro table.

Materials and Construction
Frame. Marine grade aluminum, powder coated. Aluminum does not rust, so the frame does not depend on a coating staying perfect to survive. The powder coat is baked on rather than sprayed, which is why it resists chipping at the joints where outdoor furniture usually fails first.

Care and Maintenance
Padded sling. Hose it down and let it dry. A padded sling has a layer of foam between two faces of sling fabric, so it sheds water from the surface but takes longer to dry right through than a plain sling. Stand the chair where air moves around it after heavy rain. For marks, mild soap and a soft brush.
Powder coated aluminum. Wash with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners, which dull the finish. Touch up any deep scratch promptly so salt and grit have nothing to work at.
Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

What is a padded sling?
A sling is fabric stretched over a frame. A padded sling adds a layer of foam between two faces of that fabric, so you get some of the give of a cushion in a seat that stays on the chair through weather.
How small is it really?
17.5 inches wide and 18 inches deep, against roughly 23 by 26 inches for a conventional teak dining armchair. On a 60 inch table you can seat six of these where four of the larger chairs would fit.
Do I have to choose a fabric and a frame color?
Yes. The item code ELSC-PS_-PC_ has a blank for the padded sling fabric and a blank for the powder coat. We confirm both with Oxford Garden before ordering.
Does the sling need to come inside?
No. Sling drains and dries on its own. A padded sling holds water a little longer than a plain one, so after heavy rain give it air rather than stacking chairs face to face while wet.
Does the frame rust?
No. It is powder coated aluminum, and aluminum does not rust. The baked coating is there for color and abrasion, not to keep the metal alive.
Is nine pounds too light to be stable?
For sitting, no. For an empty chair on an exposed roof deck in wind, tie or stack them. The low weight is the point of the chair and it is the trade that comes with it.
Can I leave it out all year?
Yes. Neither the frame nor the sling rots. Where you get long wet spells, storing them under cover keeps the sling looking new for longer.
