The armless Eiland dining chair: Mocha cord woven over a Carbon powder coated aluminum frame, 17.75 inches wide and seven pounds. It is the chair that lets you get one more setting down each side of a table.
- 17.75 inches wide. Five and a half inches narrower than the Eiland armchair, which is often a whole extra place setting on a long table.
- Seven pounds. The lightest piece in the Eiland range. Stack a stray one out of the way with one hand.
- Mocha cord. Woven over the frame, not stretched as a panel. It flexes under you and drains through after rain instead of holding water.
- An 18 inch seat. A quarter inch above the cord armchair, so a mixed set of Eiland armchairs and side chairs reads as one table rather than two heights.

Materials and Construction
Frame. Marine grade aluminum, powder coated. Aluminum does not rust, so the frame does not depend on a coating staying perfect to survive. The powder coat is baked on rather than sprayed, which is why it resists chipping at the joints where outdoor furniture usually fails first.
Cord. The seat and back are woven in Mocha cord, a synthetic cord used on no other Oxford Garden collection. It is woven over the frame rather than stretched across it as a panel, so it gives where you sit and drains straight through after rain.

Care and Maintenance
Powder coated aluminum. Wash with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners, which dull the finish. Touch up any deep scratch promptly so salt and grit have nothing to work at.
Cord. Hose the weave down and let it dry. Cord drains and dries on its own and does not need to come inside. For marks, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the weave.
Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

How many fit around an Eiland table?
The side chair is 17.75 inches wide. Around the 45 inch square dining table that is two a side without crowding; around the 63 by 45 inch rectangular table it is three down each long side and one at each end, for eight.
What is the seat woven from?
Mocha cord. It is a synthetic cord woven over the aluminum frame rather than a fabric panel stretched across it. Water runs straight through, so the seat dries fast and nothing has to be carried indoors.
Why is the seat higher than the armchair?
It sits at 18 inches against 17.75 inches on the cord armchair, a quarter of an inch. The difference is there because the side chair carries no arms, and it is small enough that a mixed table looks level.
Does it stack?
Oxford Garden does not print a stacking specification for this chair, so we will not claim one. At seven pounds it is easy to carry either way.
Will the frame rust?
