Eiland Collection
Eiland Armchair
A dining armchair with a Mocha cord seat and back woven over a Carbon powder coated aluminum frame. At eight pounds it is the lightest chair Eiland makes, and the cord gives it the flex a bare metal seat cannot.
- Eight pounds. The lightest seat in the collection. It is moved with one hand and stays put once it has someone in it.
- Mocha cord. Oxford Garden weaves this cord on Eiland and on nothing else. It flexes under load and drains straight through, so the seat is dry shortly after a shower.
- A 17.75 inch seat. Three quarters of an inch higher than the aluminum Eiland armchair, which is the difference between a firm seat and one you sink very slightly into.
- Carbon frame, matched to the tables. The same powder coat as the Eiland dining, bar and counter tables.

Materials and Construction
Frame. Marine grade aluminum, powder coated. Aluminum does not rust, so the frame does not depend on a coating staying perfect to survive. The powder coat is baked on rather than sprayed, which is why it resists chipping at the joints where outdoor furniture usually fails first.
Cord. The seat and back are woven in Mocha cord, a synthetic cord used on no other Oxford Garden collection. It is woven over the frame rather than stretched across it as a panel, so it gives where you sit and drains straight through after rain.

Care and Maintenance
Powder coated aluminum. Wash with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive pads and solvent cleaners, which dull the finish. Touch up any deep scratch promptly so salt and grit have nothing to work at.
Cord. Hose the weave down and let it dry. Cord drains and dries on its own and does not need to come inside. For marks, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the weave.
Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the seat woven from?
Mocha cord. It is a synthetic cord woven over the aluminum frame rather than a fabric panel stretched across it. Water runs straight through, so the seat dries fast and nothing has to be carried indoors.
How does it compare with the Eiland Side Chair?
Same cord, same frame color, same 24 inch depth. The armchair is 23.25 inches wide with arms and sits at 17.75 inches; the side chair is 17.75 inches wide with no arms and sits at 18 inches. Armchairs at the ends of a table and side chairs down the sides is the usual arrangement.
Will it fit under my table?
The arms are 23.25 inches across and the seat is 17.75 inches high. Under an Eiland dining table at 29.75 inches that leaves 12 inches of thigh room, and the chair pushes in under any apron about 25 inches off the ground.
Does the cord stretch over time?
Cord relaxes slightly in its first season and then holds. It is woven under tension over the frame rather than sewn into a panel, so there is no seam to give way.
Will the frame rust?
No. Eiland frames are marine grade aluminum, which does not rust, so the piece does not depend on the coating staying perfect to survive. The powder coat is baked on rather than sprayed, which is why it holds at the joints where outdoor furniture usually fails first.
What color is the frame?
Carbon, a deep charcoal powder coat. It is the finish the Eiland aluminum, cord and table pieces are built in, so the dining, bar and lounge pieces line up with each other across the collection.
Why is it sold in multiples of two?
Oxford Garden cartons these chairs two or four to a box. We order in the multiple they require and confirm the count with you before the order goes in.
Does it need assembly?
Oxford Garden does not print an assembly note for this chair, so we do not promise one either way. It arrives in the case pack carton listed in the specifications.
How is it delivered?
On a palletized freight shipment to the curb with lift gate service. A pair ships in a carton 25 by 24 by 39 inches, which is more than a parcel carrier will accept.
