What is this table made of, and what is the difference between the aluminum and laminate tops?
The frame is powder coated aluminum. Powder coat is applied dry and electrostatically, then cured under heat into a continuous shell, which gives a harder and more chip resistant surface than wet paint. Aluminum does not rust, which is why it is the default frame material for poolside and coastal use.
The aluminum top is the lighter and cheaper of the two surfaces, and it is the one Oxford Garden treats as the standard build. It is the same powder coated aluminum as the frame, so the table reads as a single material.
High pressure laminate is built from layers of resin impregnated paper fused under heat and pressure into one dense sheet. It is harder and more scratch resistant than the aluminum top and reads as a color or a pattern rather than as metal, which is why it is the usual specification for hospitality tables wiped down through service.
The laminate top also adds weight, which is worth knowing if the table gets moved regularly rather than left in place.
What top finishes can I order?
Five tops. The standard aluminum top, and four in high pressure laminate: Enigma, Marshland Oak, Skyline and Starlight. The frame is Carbon powder coat as stocked.
Eiland is a broad collection, so this table coordinates with the Eiland aluminum and cord seating, the stools and the deep seating pieces. Browse Patio Tables for the rest of the range.
A note on the photography: the product photograph on this listing shows the piece with a Taupe frame rather than the Carbon that Oxford Garden stocks. They photograph Eiland in several powder coats. The frame you receive on a stocked order is the color named above unless you ask us to order another coat.
How do I care for an aluminum or laminate table top?
The top cleans with mild soapy water and a soft cloth. Neither surface needs sealing, oiling or annual refinishing.
Avoid abrasive pads and scouring powders. They dull the surface sheen and leave a polished patch that cannot be blended back in afterwards.
Over winter, store the table on its feet somewhere that drains, or cover it. Water pooling in a slack cover against an edge for months does more damage than cold ever will.
How does the Eiland 45" Square Dining Table ship?
In stock now in HPL Marshland Oak. The remaining finishes are Quick Ship items, which Oxford Garden ships in one to three business days. It ships in a single carton measuring 47 by 48 by 5 inches, at 58 pounds with the aluminum top or 66 pounds with laminate. That is a large flat crate, so larger orders normally move by freight.
| Shipping cost | Free shipping on standard palletized freight to the contiguous United States, excluding HI, AK, MT, SD, ND and ID. Additional freight charges can apply to oversized pallets and to those excluded states. If any apply, we contact you with a quote before the order ships. |
|---|---|
| Carrier | Smaller items ship UPS or FedEx Ground. Anything past parcel size moves by freight carrier. |
| How it arrives | Freight shipments arrive with lift gate service and are delivered curbside. The driver is not responsible for moving items into your backyard, patio or installation location. |
| Inspect before you sign | Inspect the shipment thoroughly before signing the delivery receipt. Signing without noting visible damage counts as accepting the shipment in good condition. Report concealed damage within 48 hours of receipt and keep all packaging. |
| Returns | Return requests must be submitted within 21 calendar days from the date of delivery, and every return needs prior written authorization from Aqua Terra Backyard. Original outbound shipping is not refundable and return shipping is arranged at the customer's expense. |
What else do buyers ask about this piece?
How many people does this table seat?
Four, one per side. Allow roughly 24 inches of table edge per cover and 36 inches of clearance behind each chair so people can push back and stand up without knocking into whatever is behind them.
Does the table have an umbrella hole?
Yes, a 2 inch (50mm) hole. The aluminum version is listed with the hole as standard, so it arrives ready to take a pole through the top.
Should I size up from the 36 inch table?
If you eat four up regularly, yes. Nine extra inches per side is the difference between plates only and plates plus serving dishes. The aluminum build is 550 dollars more and 14 pounds heavier.
Do all the finishes ship at the same speed?
No. Most finishes here are Quick Ship and leave in one to three business days. HPL Enigma, HPL Skyline are not on the Quick Ship program and runs on a standard production lead time instead. Ask us to confirm the current wait before you order.
Should I choose the aluminum top or high pressure laminate?
Aluminum is lighter, cheaper and reads as one material with the frame. High pressure laminate is harder wearing, easier to clean and gives you a color or pattern instead of metal. In commercial use the laminate is usually the better buy.
Will the aluminum frame rust near a pool?
Aluminum does not rust, which is why it is the standard frame material for poolside furniture. The powder coat protects against surface corrosion from chlorinated and salt water. Rinse the frame occasionally if it sits directly beside the water.
Can this go in a restaurant or hotel?
Yes. Eiland is built to commercial grade and specified regularly for hospitality. The aluminum frame will not rust outdoors and the surfaces are chosen to survive repeated cleaning rather than occasional residential use.
What else in the Eiland range goes with this?
Eiland is designed as one range, so these pieces share the same powder coated aluminum frame and the same surface finishes.
