Classic Rocking Chair in Solid Teak
A full size teak rocker, 44 inches to the top of the back and 32 inches from the front of the runners to the rear. It is a porch chair in the traditional sense: high backed, generously armed, and heavy enough at 38.5 pounds that it stays where you put it.
- A 44 inch back. Nine inches taller than the Classic dining chairs, which is what gets the back of your head supported rather than just your shoulders.
- Runners with a 32 inch sweep. The long runner is what makes the motion slow and even instead of the quick, short rock you get from a compact frame.
- A 16.25 inch seat. An inch lower than the Classic dining chairs, set back into the frame so the chair holds you in the recline rather than tipping you forward.
- Solid teak on a covered porch or open to the sky. The wood takes rain and sun without a coating, so it can live outside or on a porch equally well.

Materials and Construction
Frame. Solid teak, sustainably sourced. Teak is used outdoors because of what is already in it: a high natural oil content that resists water absorption, insects and rot without any coating.
Finish. Supplied unfinished in natural teak. Left alone, the surface oxidizes to a soft silver gray over roughly one season. That change is cosmetic and does not affect the strength of the wood.

Care and Maintenance
Teak. No treatment is required. To keep the honey tone rather than let it silver, apply a teak sealer once a season to a dry frame. Do not use a pressure washer, which tears the soft grain out from between the harder rings. For general cleaning, warm water, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the grain.
Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much floor space does a rocker actually need?
Allow about 40 inches front to back. The chair itself is 32 inches deep, and a rocker travels several inches beyond that as it moves. Keep the back of the runners clear of a wall or rail.
Can it go on a wood deck without marking it?
The runners are broad and smooth, which spreads the load better than a chair leg does. On a soft painted deck, grit trapped under a runner is what marks the finish, so sweep underneath now and then.
Does it arrive assembled?
No. The carton is only a few inches deep, so the piece is packed flat and goes together on site. Work on a soft surface, start every fastener before you tighten any of them, and the frame will pull up square.
Will the teak turn gray?
It will, over roughly one season outdoors, unless you seal it. The silver gray patina is surface oxidation and does not weaken the wood. If you prefer the original honey tone, a teak sealer applied once a season holds it.
Can I leave it outside all winter?
Yes. Teak is used on boat decks for the same reason it is used here: the natural oils in the wood resist water, insects and rot without any coating. Nothing needs to come indoors.
Why is the item code FRCHK and not a CD code?
That is how Oxford Garden prints it. The rest of the Classic collection uses CD codes, but the rocking chair is listed as FRCHK. We quote it the way the manufacturer does so your order matches their paperwork.
