Classic 6' Bench in Solid Teak
The 6' version of Oxford Garden's Classic garden bench, in solid teak with the same contoured slat back and 17.25 inch seat as the Classic dining chairs. It seats three adults with room to spare, or four and it is heavy enough at 60.2 pounds to stay put in weather.
- A 72 inch seating width. Enough for three adults with room to spare, or four. The back is slatted and contoured across the full length, so the middle seat is as comfortable as the ends.
- Dining height, not bench height. The seat sits at 17.25 inches, the same as the Classic chairs, so the bench can be pulled up to a dining table rather than only used along a wall.
- Legs and rails in solid teak. The frame is the load path: thick legs, through rails and a braced back. Nothing about this bench is veneer over softwood.
- Built for a fixed position. At 60.2 pounds assembled it is not a chair you move each evening. It is meant to be sited, under a window, along a path, at the end of a table.

Materials and Construction
Frame. Solid teak, sustainably sourced. Teak is used outdoors because of what is already in it: a high natural oil content that resists water absorption, insects and rot without any coating.
Finish. Supplied unfinished in natural teak. Left alone, the surface oxidizes to a soft silver gray over roughly one season. That change is cosmetic and does not affect the strength of the wood.

Care and Maintenance
Teak. No treatment is required. To keep the honey tone rather than let it silver, apply a teak sealer once a season to a dry frame. Do not use a pressure washer, which tears the soft grain out from between the harder rings. For general cleaning, warm water, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the grain.
Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many people does it seat?
Three adults with room to spare, or four. The usable seat runs the full 72 inches between the arms of the frame, and the back is slatted across all of it.
Can it be used at a dining table?
Yes, and that is a common use. The seat height is 17.25 inches, identical to the Classic dining chairs, so a bench down one side of a table sits level with the chairs on the other.
Does it arrive assembled?
No. The carton is only a few inches deep, so the piece is packed flat and goes together on site. Work on a soft surface, start every fastener before you tighten any of them, and the frame will pull up square.
Will the teak turn gray?
It will, over roughly one season outdoors, unless you seal it. The silver gray patina is surface oxidation and does not weaken the wood. If you prefer the original honey tone, a teak sealer applied once a season holds it.
Can I leave it outside all winter?
Yes. Teak is used on boat decks for the same reason it is used here: the natural oils in the wood resist water, insects and rot without any coating. Nothing needs to come indoors.
How is it delivered?
By LTL freight to the curb with lift gate service. The carton is 74" x 27" x 7" and 57 pounds. The driver brings it to the curb and you take it from there, so plan for a second pair of hands.
What else is in the Classic collection?
Side and arm dining chairs, a rocking chair, benches in four, five and six foot lengths, a square end table and a coffee table. All are the same solid teak and the same slat detailing, so they can be mixed freely.
