Classic 18" Square End Table in Solid Teak
A small square teak table for the side of a lounge chair. It is sold as the 18 inch square end table; the actual dimensions are 17.5 inches on each side and 16.5 inches tall, which puts the top just under the arm of most outdoor lounge seating.
- A 16.5 inch top height. Low enough to sit beside a lounge chair rather than above it, so you are not reaching up for a glass.
- A 17.5 inch square top. Slatted and square, big enough for two drinks and a book without becoming a piece of furniture in its own right.
- 16.5 pounds. Light enough to move with one hand between chairs, heavy enough that it is not skating across a deck in wind.
- Solid teak, same wood as the seating. It sits correctly next to Classic chairs and benches because it weathers at the same rate they do.

Materials and Construction
Frame. Solid teak, sustainably sourced. Teak is used outdoors because of what is already in it: a high natural oil content that resists water absorption, insects and rot without any coating.
Finish. Supplied unfinished in natural teak. Left alone, the surface oxidizes to a soft silver gray over roughly one season. That change is cosmetic and does not affect the strength of the wood.

Care and Maintenance
Teak. No treatment is required. To keep the honey tone rather than let it silver, apply a teak sealer once a season to a dry frame. Do not use a pressure washer, which tears the soft grain out from between the harder rings. For general cleaning, warm water, mild soap and a soft brush worked along the grain.
Off season. The frame can stay outside all year.

Is the top 18 inches or 17.5 inches?
It is sold as the 18 inch square end table, and it measures 17.5 by 17.5 inches. Plan your space around 17.5 inches.
Will it sit at the right height next to a lounge chair?
For most outdoor lounge seating, yes. The top is 16.5 inches off the ground, which is at or just below the arm height of a typical deep seat chair. That is the height you want for setting a drink down without looking.
Can it be used as a small coffee table?
Between two chairs, yes. For a sofa or loveseat the Classic Coffee Table at 35.25 inches long is the better proportion, and both are the same 16.5 inch height so they can be used together.
Does it arrive assembled?
No. The carton is only a few inches deep, so the piece is packed flat and goes together on site. Work on a soft surface, start every fastener before you tighten any of them, and the frame will pull up square.
Will the teak turn gray?
It will, over roughly one season outdoors, unless you seal it. The silver gray patina is surface oxidation and does not weaken the wood. If you prefer the original honey tone, a teak sealer applied once a season holds it.
Can I leave it outside all winter?
Yes. Teak is used on boat decks for the same reason it is used here: the natural oils in the wood resist water, insects and rot without any coating. Nothing needs to come indoors.
